On Is lap dancing prostitution?

Posted on April 11 at 4:08 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

A lap dance is illegal? Maybe they should arrest women taking tips for boob shots in an establishment that sells alcohol? Maybe the police should raid bachelor and bachlorette parties?

As I said before, on another article, there is more money in legalized prostitution than illegal for taxes.

Someone's willing to pay for something, someone's offering a service and no one is getting hurt. Sometimes I think just being a lawyer is more criminal.

There may be more bodily contact at a dance club on the dance floor than during a lap dance.

The law should be out there catching the real criminals. How about the bars and taverns that keep serving customers that are totally inebriated? This service does have the potential to harm MANY.

I do not think ANY retails stores, super or regular, should sell liquor. Keeping liquor in a separate area, where people coming in and out are easily watched, would be safer for everyone.

This man should be applauded and recognized for his efforts in handling this situation perfectly. He notified the person responsible for her safety, her father. The parent may have not known his daughter had a problem. Now the parent can handle the situation.

Where is the comfort and safety of that girl if she was to drive drunk from drinking what she stole? In that case, I think Target should be libel. Target is only protecting themselves, not their customers with their store policies.

On Murphy's Law of car repairs

I just finished and e-filed my taxes. I plan to pay off a few bills, then put the rest in the bank. But knowing Murphy's Law is always in motion, it may end up being used to move or to buy a cheap more energy efficient car.

On Is it disrespectful to say the Pledge of Allegiance in a language other than English?

Posted on March 30 at 1:35 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

I see nothing wrong with anyone say the Pledge of Allegiance in any language, as long as it is heart felt. But I will say people DO need to be able to converse in English in this country.

If I were to move to Poland right now, I would be at a terrible disadvantage not knowing and using their language. I think it would be terribly unfair for me to expect them to learn English because I can't speak Polish.

But a pledge is a promise that should be heartfelt.

On At what point will gas prices start to change the way you live?

Posted on March 30 at 1:25 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

I used to go visit friends. Now I stay home. I live SE of Lake Geneva, while my boyfriend lives in Janesville. We are lucky to see each other once a week, but lately, much less.

I guess we can be thankful we are not purchasing gas by the quart or liter.

On If Rock County designates an area of the former county farm for fairgrounds, where should they be located?

Posted on March 30 at 1:20 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

See what urban sprawl did to the county fairgrounds? Save the county fairgrounds by putting it in a place that urban sprawl will never touch it again.

I grew up in a county where they kept taking land away from the fairgrounds until it was too compact to even have parking. Childhood memories are discolored by the reality of a multi million dollar strip mall as a replacement.

It doesn't make a difference WHERE it is, as long as the county and it's citizens protect it and the groups and clubs that participate in the fair.

On What is the biggest drawback to living in a rural Rock County setting?

Posted on March 30 at 1:07 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

My heart aches for all the memories of the country. Now there either strip malls or wasteful housing developments.

The biggest drawback would be the expense of having to drive into town for all the unneeded conveniences. Hmmm, I do remember stories from the past about people having to travel once a month to get things they couldn't grow or make.

People are more interested in making money than preserving what we have. Every development should be made to be less wasteful. Without the farmers and their land we will not be able to survive for long. Have you seen the movie "Soylent Green?"

I am against people building luxury houses in the country. For one, the house does become an eyesore, and two, they make themselves look as if they are not willing to become part of the local community.

STOP THE URBAN SPRAWL!!!

On Man charged in prostitution probe

Posted on March 30 at 12:37 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

$100 is quite a bit steep for oral sex. I saw a story about the street prostitutes only charging $10 in Chicago.

I am for legal prostitution. I say there is more revenue in taxing them on what they make for their services than arresting them.

I have been to that establishment, around the time of the arrests, for a get together with a few friends. I found nothing wrong with the dancers performing and then being social with the customers. I even wanted to buy my boyfriend a private dance, but the girl I wanted to dance for him was too busy.
By the way, I find it shameful to publicize anyone's booking photograph. If a person is innocent of the charges, they were publicly embarrassed wrongfully.

On Man accused of beating his father charged with battery

Posted on March 30 at 12:10 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

There is too much violence shown in the media and on cable. Video games have become severely violent. The games give rewards for being violent.

I have always believed all judicial systems are corrupt. While a murderer or rapist gets probation and very little time in jail, a person caught stealing food for their family or a person that has been caught for driving without a valid license, may serve five years in a state prison.

Battery should only be charged by the DA with the permission of the LIVING victim. People need to be held accountable for their actions. Every action a person takes should be thought out, not be fueled by emotions.

This happened a little more than a mile away from me, and I only heard about it from a Janesville citizen.
