If our naming choices tell something about society, it's that we should be very scared. If you've not been in an elementary school recently, you should see the names on a class list.
On Home Packers-Bears Tickets sold out in 1 minute

I'm sure there weren't that many tickets to be sold. They went on sale this morning for Chicago season ticket holders...and I'm sure they hold many back for their own purposes.
On State lawmaker seeks cuts to 4K

Maybe we can save a LOT more money and cut the daycare welfare program. That seems fair to me. Those are the people that are dropping their kids off, free of charge in many cases, for someone else to raise on the state's dime. Why isn't anyone calling for that program to be cut???
My child will go to preschool, and preschool only whether the state pays for it in a 4K program or I have to pay myself. In fact, we've already paid for 2 years of preschool for our older three children. I've seen the differences in children that attended preschool versus those that don't. I know my children are well prepared to start school without a culture shock. It doesn't mean I'm a slacker parent that doesn't teach their kids anything.
All those assumptions just for a few people that want to save 5 bucks on their tax bill.
BTW, I think it's ridiculous that we should pour more money in to sports, arts, and music so someone's kid might have a chance at a scholarship and a future. MAYBE if you focused on the education aspect of school, your child could get a well deserved scholarship that will take them much farther than that sports scholarship!

I'm so tired of hearing the babysitter comment. It's an uneducated comment.
Maybe I'm tired of paying taxes for grumpy old peoples medicare. Doesn't meant it's the right thing to do!
I get they might have to cut spending. But there are definitely better places to cut it at. Like government salaries, contracts, supplies, aides, etc. I'm tired of them jumping on education first.
And if you've never been in a 4K or an actual preschool, you should keep your mouth shut about what they do or don't do.
On Walker defends keeping appointees secret

The point of the matter is why does it need to be a secret at any point? If he's offered them the position and it's been accepted AND they are working in the capacity of said position, there's no reason, it shouldn't be released to the public. I don't have a serious issue with Walker yet but this just doesn't start his term off in the right tone/light whatever you want to call it. Bad choice.
On Where are you going on vacation next year?

I agree! All our 'refund' money will go to catch up and helping spread the month to month expenses. Vacations are no where in our future.
On Board, residents sound off about Milton 4K proposal

Woody, you've obviously not spent anytime in a preschool or a daycare. There's a clear difference between babysitting (something a teenager often does) and daycare and/or preschool. Namely, training by professionals. So unless you have a legitimate complaint, your comment is offensive to those that provide daycare and preschool teaching.
I think that Milton is behind the ball on 4K. We lead the way on most initiatives in the area. But between the lack of 4k and technology our district is at the back of the line. It's soon going to affect all those open enrollment students and people's view of our district.
Milton needs to focus on what's truly important in education and start making the changes and cuts necessary to move forward. They should survey the jobs of each aide and staff in the buildings and see what can be streamlined. They should stop focusing on extra curricular funding and provide our students with the best teachers and technology available.

Wow! You guys can't cut anyone a break can you? Nothing like beating a dead dog....I agree in the circumstance that they should have shot the dog. I'm not familiar with the other case but these things happen all the time. Accusations are made that are sometimes not founded.
Either way, if you don't live in Milton, why the heck do you care??? Similarly, it is completely rude and ignorant to make comments regarding their character and personality when you know neither of them.

Congrats!! Enjoy a worry free week!
Rain is supposed to be a blessing for your wedding per some folklore somewhere.
Things are going to go different than planned but no one but you will know, so don't freak, just keep smiling!
And I'm pretty sure you'll make it down the aisle without embarassing yourself (all the people standing and turning is a little stunning and intimidating! I wish someone would have told me!) But no promises once you get to the end!
Have a beautiful wedding and try to slow down and enjoy every aspect of it!
