On Janesville school buses to get seat belts

this is going to be very interesting to watch this unfold! On the buses we have to watch out for kids bringing weapons to school and now we will have installed weapons for them to use. Already on the small buses the kids like to smack each other with them. I work on the small buses and even the tiny 3yrs olds in EC can smack each other with them and also get out of the seat belts and car seats with just the push of a button. (these are routes with aides) So if the EC can do this how is just the driver going to be able to "police" a bus load of Middle and High Schoolers. Can't wait to see the HS Football teams get straped into there seats!

totell: When my nephew who was a Marine came back from Iraq. He was invited by co-worker of his mother's to talk to the students of one of the public elementary schools (can't remember which one) here in Janesville. So it can and it does happen in public schools. God Bless all the Soldiers, Marines and Sailors here at home and over seas

cjjs35: The buses are required to do a practice bus evacuation twice a school year. The Drivers and the Aides are well trained to handle a emergency.
It is safer on a bus than in a car or truck just because of the design. The fatal bus accident up north a few years ago was when the bus was rear ended by a Semi. If a bus is rear ended by a car or a pick-up the most damage would be to the car or pick-up.
About 10 years ago the bus that my neice was riding in was in a accident south of Evansville. The bus was being passed by a car when it hit another car head on. The bus driver swerved to miss the cars. It landed on it's side in a field. None of the chidren were hurt except being shaken up. The Driver got all the students off safe.

"The school board came to a consensus Tuesday that it makes more sense to buy new buses with seat belts when making scheduled replacements than to retrofit the current buses."
The school buses are not owned by the district they are owned and operated by VanGalder Bus (Coach USA). So is the district going to buy the buses or will VanGalder?
The only way that this will be effective is if they have a Bus Aide ride every bus. The district dosen't even have enough Bus Aides to cover the Special Ed Routes.

MKS2008: You would feel differently if you were droped by a Mercy Dr. midway through treatment (because of a mistake made by the Dr). This happened to my brother. Now no Dr in the system will touch my brother and the kicker is he has Mercy Care Ins. Both the UW and Froedtert Dr's are working there hardest to correct this medical mistake. Lucky my SIL has ins. to cover since Mercy Care won't refer him anywhere!
Also go on the Studer Group Web page they will tell any hospital how to win the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for a price.

No matter what if anything happens to me I would rather be at the UW or Froedtert. Mercy may get the trauma unit, but will it have the staff to run it. My family has had expierances at all three and the level of care at UW and Froedtert is far above Mercy. Can't wait for the new St Mary's

This year the train ride from 6-10 is going to be for the "tweens" This is the first year that the train will be running this late. It's the best (from expieriance) that the later the better. The Last Train of the night is the best.
It's been a long time since they had the Haunted Hayrides. The Aqua Jays did those, and they were fun..........to bad that they had to discontinue them,
Everyone who puts on these Haunted events have to be very careful so no one gets hurt. I believe that there is a "no touching" rule and you can only get so close to the visitors.

Opt: my daughter is a very well adjusted adult. She is in School at Blackhawk and doing quite well. She Knows when to defend herself and stands up for what is right. She works with young adults with terminal illnesses. So what did this teach her back in the 4th grade. It taught her there are not very nice people out in the real world and you can change and take charge of your life and not be put down for who you are.

Because of these "Overbearing Parents" us "Ignorant Parents" never get to go with our kids on field trips and etc. Mostly because they are always there and My "Ignorant" self is at work! And when I do get to sign up I get cancelled because they have enough of the "Helicoptor Parents" to chaparone.

Oh yeah I forgot....$11,000 dollars is a drop in the bucket when the buses cost well over $100,000 a piece. So the actual cost of the new bus will be VanGalders.
