Hey...I walked this path with two friends the end of May. We walked through from Library Park in Geneva around to Big Foot Beach and back up through Fontana and Williams Bay. We began about 7:30 in monring and finished up at about 3:30 in afternoon. Bring lots of water. I reccomend a backpack with a 2 liter bladder and a couple quarts of Gatorade. Would be glad to talk with you more about it if you wanted!

I want to hear his retirement speech. If he's gracious to Packer Nation, I'll wish him well. If he doesn't mention us, he'll get nothing. If he's ungracious, I hope he breaks his leg mowing the lawn.

Personal responsibility is all that's needed. We don't need the government stepping in on this one. There is already a law on the books that is called "Inattentive Driving" that would cover this and everything else that may be distracting when we drive. Lets start enforcing the laws we do have rather than coming up with new ones that won't be enforced!
On Coroner sees pattern in fatal motorcycle wrecks

There are many motorcycle accidents that result in death when someone is not wearing a helmet wehrein there is enough blunt force trauma to the rest of the body that a helmet would have made no difference. I'm not disputing the fact that a helmet will save injuries, and in some cases, life, but it bothers me to no end that most articles about motorcycle deaths have a single sentence at the end similar to "The motorcycle operator wasn't wearing a helmet." In many of these cases, this shouldn't have any bearing on the story and wouldn't have changed the outcome. May as well have said "The operator of the motorocycle wasn't wearing his/her _______." Fill in the blanks with whatever you like: underwear, watch, dentures, hearing aids....

Erman...first off, you need to be corrected. Delavan takes a VERY proactive approach to the problems that are within their community. Elkhorn's officials have said for years that they do not have either a drug or gang problem. This is simply not true. They are looking at things through rose colored glasses and choose to cover things up rather than deal with them as they happen and be proactive about them. I would really like you to explain to me how a simple invisible boundry between the two cities keeps all the drugs and gangs out of Elkhorn? It doesn't. The simple fact is that both communities have issues very similar.
Elkhorn is exploding? Wow. No Super Wal*Mart. No Kohl's Department Store. No Panera Bread. No Starbucks. How about the strip malls lining the highways and roadways with countless businesses? Where is the new retail development in Elkhorn? Where is the new industry in Elkhorn? Delavan is constantly growing and expanding and leaving Elkhorn in it's dust. Sorry, but it's the truth. Delavan's Industrial Park is booming and is currently getting several BIG additions.
As far as a local school official receiving national honors, take a look at the Principal at Wileman Elementary in Delavan. National Honors last year. You're not the only school district in the state to have someone achieve this! School choice is an option that is there for you if you truly don't want your kids going to a specific school. That is an option that you seem to be overlooking. There are many many good kids with strong educations that leave the Delavan-Darien School District and do GREAT things with their lives.
Erman, you do the research. It's been done. Delavan wins. Go ahead and move to Elkhorn where you can find flop motels like the Nickle Plate that houses sexual offenders on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Go ahead and move to a community that chooses to cover things up to look better rather than take a proactive approach to things. Not something I'm willing to do. DELAVAN WINS.

On Lake Lawn warns employees of possible layoffs

You people are amazing. First of all, I am not the least bit happy that this is potentially closing. However, with that being said, Anchor Bank is not the enemy. They are a BANK. They are not in business to run and manage hotels and large properties. THEY HELD THE NOTE ON THIS PROPERTY. The are simply taking it back from the people that weren't paying on the note! I am sure that they would rather have had a qualified buyer, but one hasn't stepped forward yet. That may happen. Take some time to look how the banking industry works. If you weren't able to pay the mortgage on your home, you would end up being forclosed on. It would then go up for auction by the bank that held the loan. The bank usually bids on the property for what it is into it for so it doesn't lose anything in a sale. If nobody else steps forward, the bank then owns it. Simple. Take your anger and agression out on those that couldn't run it properly. Call Pete Zellmet at Lake Lawn and be pissed at him. Be angry at the management that have been running it into the ground. Anchor is protecting it's interests.
