On Clear Lake neighbors dealing with rising levels months after summer's record

I agree with greengina in the proposition that we leave the lake alone. This seems to be a very natural occurrence and I don't think we should try to stop it. Imagine if a long time ago someone tried to stop the glaciers from changing the landscape of Wisconsin and the Northern US and Canada. We wouldn't have many of the great things we have today.

My condolences to everyone who has lost real estate and other valuables. Hopefully things work out.

On Teen pleads guilty to OWI homicide

Ahh, it does appear she is not remorseful. It's a shame... hopefully one day she will be able to fully understand the seriousness of what she has done. Hopefully some day she will be remorseful.

On Craig and Parker may close campus, for some

Posted on November 12 at 9:50 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

Leave it an open campus lunch. I could maybe understand making it closed for Freshman. I think it's a good idea to make closed campus lunch a punitive measure... but for the majority of the students, it should be open campus.
°
When I attended Craig, I used to walk to my house every day during my lunch break. It was very nice to be able to do that. I don't see why it would be necessary to close the campus.
°
By the way, for anyone with the same question as blue birds 66... No, each class of students does not have a different lunch time. There are two lunch times only.

I hope that she pleaded guilty because she realized that she was in the wrong, and not just to get a lower sentence. If she really does feel remorse, then I can forgive her. I am glad, if that is the case, that she has realized the errors of her ways. Hopefully she will not return to such activity.

On Michigan may lead way for Wisconsin on medical marijuana

Posted on November 9 at 11:10 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

There are definitely a lot of people out there who just want it decriminalized. I want marijuana to be decriminalized so I can enjoy it whenever I want. The way the opposition has been, though, it will be easier to get it legalized for medicinal purposes first. Either way, as I already stated, I push for the decriminalization of marijuana for recreational use first and foremost. I come right out and say it, I want marijuana decriminalized so that I can get high at my house without fear or worry.
°
Marijuana is illegal right now and alcohol is legal. I don't smoke marijuana. I want it decriminalized. Are you happy? I'm following the law -and- pushing for change. What is your argument now? "Marijuana is illegal, so don't break the law. You aren't breaking the law, but you still want it legalized..." There is no argument on your behalf anymore, if that was all you had to say. The Kid is right, though, many people in the past have broken laws that should have never been made in the first place, and eventually the law was changed.

I think it needs to be legalized for the recreational use, and that's what I push for first and foremost. I cannot deny it's medicinal benefits, though.

Leine's is actually owned by Miller. Leine's still brews their own beer and is basically independent, but at the end of the day, Miller is the one who sees their profits.

On Obama trounces McCain in students' mock election

MrPerfect,
Please reconsider what you have said. First of all, there is a program for those of us in the military called, "Proud to Serve Again." It's for service members who are interested in going into teaching once they leave the military. I myself have considered this option because I love kids and I think I would really enjoy being a teacher. The program is designed to ensure that service members who become teachers are very well trained, and even so that they may shine above the average teacher. We do many things in the military besides just point a gun and pull a trigger...

I'm a generator mechanic. My primary job is to fix diesel engines and generators. I can also do interior wiring. I'm trained to read schematics and even to work on circuit boards and solid state devices. I have also been trained in hazardous waste management, and administrative work. As a non-commissioned officer in the Marine Corps, I am expected to provide monthly evaluations and counselings of the Marines under me, so I have to be able to adapt to many different leadership styles. The Marine Corps teaches us to use 14 leadership traits, and these fundamentals that the Marine Corps is built upon can all transfer into the civilian world. It would not be crazy for me, a Marine, to get out and get a job as a diesel engine mechanic. The Marine Corps, Army, Air Force, and Navy all have their own accountants too, so yes, some veterans would be very well suited to be an accountant, since they've already received the training and have had a lot of on the job training.
°
Lastly, there is a very prestigious program for service members called Troops to Truckers. This program is designed to provide specialized training for service members so that they can be highly skilled truck drivers. You would be surprised at how many actually do take advantage of this program, and get out of the service with a very well paying job. It is funny that you even mentioned imagining service members getting out and being truck drivers.
°
The United State's Military is not a group of barbarians. We are highly skilled and well trained in many jobs, 95% of which directly relate to the civilian world. Most employers still prefer that we have a formal education beyond just military training, and that's part of why we also have the Montgomery GI Bill.

Poor Oakhill Christian... they had their four votes stripped from them. They were given to Washington, of course.
