How can they vote on something before they have all of the facts. That was their greatest error. That and the logic that if you close Newark, you then are required to close Footville.

Just saying that it is idiotic to even vote on a proposal before you have a final cost for the project not only for your own information, but also to present to the public.

This is beautiful! They are not even sure of the amount that they will need for the addition to OES. If I am right, that means if the bids come in over 3.8 million they will either have to cut items from the building project to fit their estimated number or they will have to go back to the drawing board and start the entire process over fron scratch.
On Teacher, Janesville district, deal still possible

I have worked in the private sector my entire life and I just cannot imagine why a person would want to be a teacher, especilally in Janesville. Every time an issue like this comes up the teacher bashers are waiting in the bushes to pounce on the people who educate and in many cases raise our children. When I was a child going to school, my parents respected my teachers and they made sure that I did the same. It seems to me that the Janesville board of education should have had some notion that these cuts were coming and still they entered into a contract extension with their teachers. I realize that times are hard. But, I also see value in living up to an agreement that has been made between two parties. The teachers will start to pay for their share of insurance and retirement in the fall of 2013. Until then, lets appreciate them for the fine job that most of them do educating our children.

When this is all over, will anything have changed or will there still be schools in both Newark and Footville?
