On Schools worry about staph infections

A college basketball player recently was infected with the MRSA virus and ended up having part of his foot amputated in order to rid his body of the infection. This is extremely serious stuff.

Typical for the Janesville School District. Other area districts have been warning of the dangers of this infection for at least the last 2 to 3 years. Way to be cutting edge JSD!

On Parkview contract talks move to mediation

I personally know many elementary teachers in the Parkview District and you won't find a more professional, hard working group of educators. Offer a fair settlement to all of your teachers even touoght you could never pay the ones that I know enough money to compensate all that they do for the children of your district.

On Parker's Demos wins state title in high jump

The only problem that I have with your coverage of thei outstanding accomplishment is the fact that instead of the local champion getting her picture in the paper clearing the winning height, there is a picture of an athlete from East Troy. Although she is a great athlete, you would think the local athlete would get top billing.

On Schools turn to surveys

Janesville school officials may not like what the public has to say. They really have no idea how many severe problems there are at the local high schools. Spend 5 minutes talking to any student that attends either Parker or Craig and you will hear about issues that would make you sick to your stomach and cause you to question the leadership of those two schools.

On Planning begins for principal search

Don't put a time limit on finding the best possible candidate for this job. Search as far and as long as you need to in order to find the individual who will best serve our kids, their parents and the community of Janesville.

On Lunch costs up; fees for athletics unchanged—so far

Posted on April 24 at 2:31 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

I do not agree at all with the athletic taxes that our district famalies have to pay in order for their children to participate in sports. However, how could you totally bypass football with the expensive equipment that each athlete must have. A revolution helmet alone must go for at least $150 - $175 per helmet. Eliminate the fees and cut some of the wasteful programs that are pet projects of some of the district leaders and school board members.
