Let's simply get back to basics and let those that want to be in sports, band and any other extra activity pay for them completely. Then require teachers to work 2080 hrs 12 months a year teaching all the basic educational classes and have great educated students. When you take the college entrance exam for engineering they do not ask where the quarterback of the football team is located, nor where the center on the basketball team is located. I have nothing against the extra activities but let the very few that want it PAY ALL the costs involved including busing.
Orfordville has four schools for 1030 students. That is rediculous!!!!! Next year they expect 40 less students. Evansville, Janesville, Brodhead and Beloit Turner could absorb that 1000 students divided up very easly. I have no more money left for another $200-$300 annually on my taxes for the next many years cause once they get the money it will not end period!!!!!!!! 78% of all the money going to the schools goes to administrative and employment expenses, they have a maintenance budget yet the schools are falling apart they say, HUH ??????

Sad but true, all staff at the schools are important. Truth, we are in times where the only workers that have not felt the REAL impact of the recession are government workers. They still got raises in salaries, FREE retireement, Insurance, plus any other benefits. The rest have maybe faced layoffs, cut salaries, benefits and had to make some serious choices on spending or loose their home.
To constantly use the idea that "we must keep up with other salaries or loose staff" is all bull. When does the bar quit being set higher and higher for only those few. We as tax payers allow the bar to continually get set up and up and take it right in the backside. Stand up, 70% of the tax dollars going into the school goes to salaries and benefits. If the district can't afford it then so be it. Start lowering the bar all over. Spend more of the money coming in on the facility, educational equipment and supplies. Sports won't get all of your children a profession and good future as very few make pro sports.

Mike unfairly used his Local UAW 95 President position by convincing members to get him into the legislature with promises and then turning his back. Ship him out, as there has to be another UAW Member out of work willing to run in that district.

Darien Board members and residents, check with ALL the PAST board members of the Village of Orfordville, in Rock County as to why Malteese is not there any longer. He is less than forthright and always secretly keeping score on the boss and other community leaders to use against them at some point rather than simply do his job. Then go talk to the people of the Village of Albany and see why he's not Chief there any longer. Obviously the Darien Village board did not do a good backround check on Maltese. This guy is TROUBLE folks with a capital T. Darien needs to have the Rock County Sheriff Department do the background check of Maltese to be independant and untainted from Walworth County. Darien residents watch and protect your back with this Maltese character he has pulled the same divide and destroy tactics many times before. The residents, Businesses and visitors of Darien deserve and can do much better.

I as many others wish the best for GM and ALL workers affected by this travesty. GM in conjunction with UAW put themselves in this position and the taxpayers of the US have given up enough to GM thus far. IF the Janesville plant is considered for reopening then GM should foot the entire bill with stockholders not the Wisconsin taxpayers who don't even live around here and are hurting also. We have far to much deficit already and no one group of Wisconsinites should be favored for jobs. Rebuilding Lake Delton with our transportation money was an outrage enough those millions should have been spread throughout the state for road projects not a lake for Illinois millionaires.

User or abuser your not going to see officials go after certain groups of individuals. You can't have it in your system if you were not in possession either. I am sure you get the point lets go into government employees parking lots and see if the dogs hit on their autos. They have strict policies too, and we pay them. The kids are defenseless and easy to puch around without certain expectations of rights as minors. Lets be fair and make the same expectations of others in public positions and on our tax paid property.

If the state would mandate supprise UA tests by a private company on all protective status workers ie police, fire, probation/parole agents and the like we would be shocked at the number of abusers in these fields. We all know it we just don't want to face it. Although they wouldn't make it public about the number of abusers in those categories it would be hush hush and turn a blind eye. Now they will say "we have drug testing". Yes, but they are alerted when the tests are coming, and only in extreme cases of accident etc, are they done. It is NOT a suprise walk in and drop program through out any agency.

The park has been a problem for many years with many complaints. Past town boards were to reluctant to act until they voted in a leader to take it on that is the bottom line. It takes political will and most of all, it takes leaders who take the positions seriously and want to enforce their ordinances not just come to meetings once a month. Many individuals live in these towns and villages who just complain, complain yet won't put their time and energy into acting or running for office that's the saddest part of all.
