Thats GREAT news John. I start my radiation and 5-FU this next Monday,it will be 5 days a week for 6 weeks. You are in my prayers every night John, as I'm sure many other people are praying for your continued improvemnet and success at beating this dreaded disease. All the best to you John...Larry

As far as I'm concerned the State and Federal Government should do like the average person, if you don't have the money, cut your spending habits and don't borrow money, simple as that, then maybe there would be light at the end of the tunnel, instead of more debt.

Hello again John, Gee, I don't know what to tell you. My heart Doctor told me to eat foods high in protein and calories. That's what I've been trying to do. I've lost about 40lbs and kind of lost my taste for food when I was in Mayo Clinic 3 times for a total of 18 days. I've just had my 9th chemo treatment today and food still tastes pretty good to me. Maybe if you seasoned it a little that might help. I guess I'm also going to be getting radiation soon and don't know if that will affect the taste of food. I know that my type of cancer[bile duct]there isn't any cure if they can't operate and get all the tumor, which they couldn't. So hopefully the chemo and radiation will give me a few more months of quality time. i have been eating blueberries and red seedless grapes, they are suppose to be high in anti-oxidents and that is good for fighting cancer I'm told. John, My thoughts and prayers are with you. I was diagnosed with cancer this past July, was told at St. Marys hospital that it was inoperable. My son and daughter got ahold of Mayo Clinic and they said they could operate, well that was a no go also. So I'm kind of fighting the same battle as you are. Mine is bile duct cancer, strikes about 1 or 2 in a 100,000 people, being inoperable, the prognosis is 7 to 12 months. I really don't know when my clock started ticking tho. I started chemo on Dec. 1st but that's just to slow it down hopefully. With any luck I hope I'll have more quality time left than the 12 months. I have called you in the past about some of your columns [Nascar] in the Gazette, sometimes to chew you out and also to praise you on a fine column, it dealt mostly when you wrote about Dale Earnhardt when he was racing. You and Mike Dupre are the only reporters that have returned emails to me and I respect you both for that. All the best to you John as you fight this dreaded disease... Sincerely, Larry

A belated Happy Birthday to you John, I'm happy to hear that your are doing so well. I have a idea that you are going to beat this dreaded disease and I sure hope you do. To see your parents on your Birthday and have your mom bake a cake [which is probably your favorite] must have been totally awesome for you. All the best to you. Larry
