On Balloon crashes in Janesville

Posted on April 12 at 8:37 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Thanks to a friend on FB I got to see a picture early after rescue and fire got there. Glad no major injuries occurred. Someone attempting to land in Bond late in the evening miscalculated the little wind there is tonight I guess.

On Proposed Janesville highway project draws concerns

Posted on April 9 at 4:55 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Isn't it about 4 miles on hwy 14 to the highway 26 entrance to the interstate from where the proposed connection would be made? We are talking about couple extra stops along this proposed corridor in which it is about the same taking hwy 14 to hwy 26. Taking hwy 14 to hwy 26 would get a driver on the interstate faster too since it is less miles considering it is about 6 miles to the interstate from hwy the beginning of highway 11 bypass to the interstate, now add an additional 4 miles, compared to the already existing 4-5 miles. Now add in the extra officers it would take to patrol the addition and the lose of business because the city wants to drive traffic from every access point around the city. Seems like a waste and reverse effect of what Janesville needs.

On Blackhawk Tech trims budget

BTC is so out of date with anything other than nursing. Eckert said he was cutting the aviation program because low graduation and the fact that people who graduate from the course do not work in the area. Not many of those nurses will be working in the area either so where is the difference other than amount of cash flow going in from registrants?

Compared with Fox valley's programs, BTC is twenty years behind in most all their other programs. Equipment is ancient and funds are low to get proper up to date equipment. Also, not everyone can move to the far North for a 1 - 2 year course. The state really needs to kick it up a notch for this great school. Not kick it the groin and push higher education further out the door in lower Wisconsin.

On Sheriff's office hopes to buy motorcycles

Posted on February 22 at 8:11 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

$14,000 is cheaper than the $50,000 vehicles. With less wear and tear on two vehicles and cheaper maintenance it is cost effective since that gives longer life to those other vehicles not on the road as often. I do however agree with the comments on the cost of an accident with one of these. I would like to know, didn't you nay sayers read the article? the department used to lease the bikes from Kutter previously. The cost was still there previously. Problably at a higher cost since lease costs more. Plus, now the department has an asset than will be auctioned off when the bikes get out of date. Thus recouping a small portion of the bikes

Lastly, I am not a motorcyclist, but I think Kutter is one of the greatest assets to Janesville in many ways. For one, I like how their bid does not rape a government institution like many other companies most likely did on some of the bids. Kutter is selling these bikes at what it would cost you and I if we were to buy a bike tricked out as these will be. Seriously, some of you are not that money wise.

On Few seek Rock County Board positions

Nobody wants the mess these people created, or are blamed to have created. Maybe that is why there is no one to contest them.

On 300 positions open at Generac

Robo - The problem is that Janesville's board of education decided to make cuts in technical, industrial, and other great educational classes. They left the kids with few options like, choir and art. I understand that kids need culture awareness. But the kids are not going anywhere with these classes. Art is low paying and very few make it. Choir, hah! how many are going to be singing stars? None! With these as being the only options for the kids, all the kids want to do is watch the Kardasians and glee. Or watch Jersey Shore to learn how to be tool bags and drunks. The school system needs to get technology and industrial put back in the system or our kids are going to lost be when they graduate. More like, worthless tool bag drunks.

Yes, I do know they offer advances in nursing in high school. But there are very few of those jobs around and not may guys, or girls, want to be a nurse.

On New system aims to make schools more accountable

Posted on December 3 at 10:48 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

The "No Child Left Behind" act was broken and the educational system is now admitting to it. Why? Because each district is no longer getting that aid from the government. For every child passed through a school, the school got more financial aid. I am going to call them bonuses. Schools found this out and pushed the failing kids out the door to maintain that bonus from the government. Now that the government does not give this money out anymore, the education experts will finally admit the no child left behind act is a failure. They should have done this ten years ago so we wouldn't have a bunch of failed kids running around on the street. If a kid deserves an F, Fail them. Hold them back in school. If it hurts their feelings, tough!
.
I want to add off subject, that Parker has one class that is experimenting with not teaching in the classroom. Forcing the kids to watch a video after school, and doing homework. One class uses up over an hour of the kids social, work, activity time after school. During this time lost the kids have no where to turn to ask for questions until the next day when the homework is due and they don't have a chance to have questions answered. This effecting many kids grades. Taking many A-B students grades down to F's and D's. All because a teacher does not want to teach in class. Supposedly this teacher felt that this idea would help the kids that had lower grades, in the traditional classroom, learn more, and do more homework. Could you imagine what would happen if all the classes went to this method?
.
Might as well home school your kids people. They'll get a better education and you can fail them. Unlike what they do in our schools now. No teaching, and no failing grades. Just pass them through and toss them into the real world. No wonder our country is falling to pieces.

On Janesville roundabout plan detoured

Posted on November 15 at 4:23 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

@ johnnyreb6977 yah but take into the account that they are still looking for a place to put one in this statement by McDonald, "Hopefully, there are plenty of other places where we can put a roundabout where it actually fits."

Sounds like they want to put one in just because. The city must have money falling out of its pockets (sarcasm).

On School tax levy raised

Posted on October 26 at 6:11 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

You wonder why the assessment of your home was higher this year, Substantially higher? So they can hit you harder with levy's such as this. I ask, what happened to that $3 million excess that existed? You sent teachers packing, have an excess, but yet you want more after cutting all the classes that are needed for a child to expand as an adult. Choir and band isn't doing it. I suggest you re-assess everyone's homes at current market prices for the Janesville market and then take your levy from that.

On Rock County Jail renovations increasing safety

Posted on October 24 at 2:51 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Rewarding a criminal is criminal. Give them three squares, comfortable living, cable television, etc. and all you will get in return is repeat offenders. Making life cushy in jail just gives the criminal incentives to break the law more. Of course they try to get away with what ever law they are breaking. But if they get caught, it is no big deal to them because they are rewarded.
