Thank you to Karen Gleason for your great work on this project. Giving survivors of suicide (people who have lost family or friends to suicide)an occasion to come together and remember the life of your loved one is very important. As Karen said it is good to spend time with people who understand how it feels to loose someone to suicide. You are also doing a great service by raising awareness of this topic of suicide that needs recognition and understanding by all of the members in our communities. I am so grateful to hear the commemts of a great advocate of suicide prevention, Brad Munger. His words give a simple example of the things that we have learned about suicide in different populations. I admire all of the work in the Rock County area and am very glad to see that you are working together. I am also very glad that you have offered QPR training in your area. I would like to encourage you all to keep up the great work. I would also like to invite you to the HOPES ( Helping Others Prevent and Educate about Suicide) Annual Walk for Awareness of Suicide and Depression in Madison, WI in May of 2009. You can check our website at www.hopes-wi.org for the date and location. We have met many of you fine people in Rock County and hope to meet more of you as we celebrate the lives of our loved ones and our work in WI for suicide prevention.
