On Darien board members allegedly violated Open Meetings Law

Posted on February 21 at 10:47 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

I am not a Darien resident but have followed these articles very closely. Wasn't the suspension of the Chief a surprise to some of the board members? I may be mistaken but I am almost positive that when his suspension was announced more than one board member was surprised, leading me to believe they had not made any vote to suspend him. I still don't see the logic how people believe the Police Chief should have notified people he thought were breaking the law that he was having cameras placed to investigate their possible wrong doings.

On Deputy fires shot at man who fled courthouse

The deputy was doing his sworn duty to protect and serve. The deputy didn't escalate this incident, the person who got into the vehicle did when he accelerated his vehicle towards the deputy. Get his license plate? That's on file with the State? What use would getting his license plate do? I guarantee you his license plate and his drivers license is not up to date with DOT. Did the deputy know this was only for a simple traffic violation? No. Most sensible people wouldn't run, an most sensible people wouln't make an attempt to run over a Sheriff's Deputy for a traffic violation. This deputy put his life in the line to do what he has taken a sworn oath to do, protect and serve the people of Walworth County.

On Marshall Middle School on lockdown

All that telling the students and or parents of a situation that is under control with the school on lockdown would do is cause pandemonium. The school and police department would be overwhelmed with unecessary phone calls from frantic parents. Why are kids allowed to send text messages from school?

Theres no saying that if the dispatcher had followed procedure the girl would have been found. GPS tracking with cell phones is not an exact science. At best the police would have been sent to her building to check the area.

On City says "no" to Mirbeau-Hummel

I guess I've never viewed added jobs and more tourism as being bad for the local economy. Yes, the traffic congestion in Lake Geneva is horrible. That land is not going away. It's been bought and annexed into Lake Geneva. There will be a developement there, and it will bring traffic. Why not have a vineyard, winery and smaller hotel?

I'm glad the City of Lake Geneva officials and their residents are so easily swayed by Linn Twsp residents

Way to go Lake Geneva!!! When thousands of jobs are being cut all over the state you turn away a business that would create dozens if not hundreds of jobs. Smart thinking.
