On Rock Aqua Jays finish second at nationals

What this team accomplished this year is nothing short of amazing. Having to travel all over the state just to get some time on the water and finishing a close second at Nationals really shows the heart and determination of these young athletes. Now maybe they can get some support to help re-build their site so everyone in Janesville and surrounding areas can enjoy thier top-notch shows next year. They will need all the help they can get because of losing all of their income this year. With all the clean-up and some re-building they need to do, it will be a very large expense for a non-profit organization that brings so much to the community. Please help them with anything you can.

From what I've seen in the previous years winners, they wouldn't even make it in front of the cameras on American Idol. And I agree, someone from Rockford should not be able to compete in a "Rock County Star" contest.

Just another case of liberals saying we have to find alternative energy sources and when a plan comes together they say, "Oh no, not in my backyard." Getting so sick of it.

The Gazette writes about this now and will even after the plant eventually closes because it has the most significant impact on everyones life here in Southern Wisconsin. Whether you people want to believe it or not, this is going to be a major blow to all of Southern Wisconsins' economy at a time when it is least needed. You say there are other employers here other than GM now. Yes, but why do you think they came here in the first place? GM made this city thrive. Losing it along with all its suppliers and supporting companies is something that will impact the area for a LONG time. The Gazette will definetly continue to cover the story and its long term impacts on the local economy.

Yep, kind of hard to take the bus 40 miles to work. There is no train either. And yes, our wonderful Democrats that say they are there to help the people have done nothing that they promised. All they have done is introduced meaningless resolutions about Iraq. Thanks Speaker Pelosi.

This seems to be typical of about everything that is proposed in this area. Its a great idea to have but don't put it in my backyard. Lets suck it up people. Other people own that land and can do with it what they please!!! Petition or no petition. I'm so sick of it. Need refineries, not in my backyard. Need ethanol plant, not in my backyard. Need windfarms, not in my backyard. I'm about to puke.

I will agree to a certain extent. Yes, it has taken financial resources that could have been better used here to finance the war. I was supportive of the war in the beginning, but now that Saddam is not in power, we need to have a solid exit strategy, which we do not. I have to admit that I am one of the conservatives that has changed his/her mind on the situation. That still does not excuse the Democratic politicians and their leaders, (Pelosi and Reid), for not living up to promises, (energy prices, Medicare reform, etc), they made to their constituents when they were elected. I will say I still do feel for Mr. Kennedy, and anyone that has to endure a brain tumor. This will be a terrible thing to deal with.

NVgrf, "your party" has been in control for the last two and a half years. I haven't seen any "reverse of the Republican destruction" yet. I remember people like Nancy Pelosi saying that now that they were in control of the House and Senate, they would fix the high gas and oil prices, and finish the Iraq war. Wow, gas prices have doubled. They did a great job didn't they. As for what this story is about. I do feel for the Kennedy family, I will say that I am a conservative, but the Kennedy family has been one of the most influential families of our time. My prayers are with Senator Kennedy.
