On Mercy accused of negligence in death

I was treated at Mercy ER a few years ago for something rather serious: I was unable to breath without using my Bi-pap machine to help, and Mercy ER rushed me right in to a room and I didn't have to wait even one second. They gave me a chest X-ray, and it didn't look like anything was wrong, but the ER doctor thought he noticed a possible collapsed lung so he ordered a Catscan. It turns it out it was indeed a collapsed lung and I had a chest tube inserted and was in the hospital for 3 days. I had nothing but excellent care during that time.
There have been other times where I went to Mercy ER, for a cut that needed stitches, or other similar injury, and yes I have had to wait an hour or two in the waiting room. But that is standard anywhere. For all you know, an ambulance has just brought emergency patients in that the staff is tending too. I would say someone in ambulance takes precedent over someone who needs a few stitches.
Too many people complain about having to wait in the waiting room at an ER when they do not know what is going on behind closed doors. If you go to the ER for something like a cut, or a pain, or something that isn't potentially life threatening - prepare to wait.
Now am I defending Mercy in this particular lawsuit? No, I have no idea what happened and I do know that doctors and hospitals make mistakes - but that doesn't mean the hospital or doctor is ALWAYS negligent.

Its like Jon Stewart said, nail polish isn't going to turn a boy gay, just like a kid isn't going to turn into a superhero just because he got his face painted to look like Spiderman.
it's nail polish... it comes off... relax.

Thank you Mr. Stried for submitting this article.
And a big thank you to you and your wife for being truly GREAT teachers. While some may complain about your "lucrative paychecks" I know first hand that you are worth every penny - if anything you deserve more. I, along with hundreds of other students, are better people because we were lucky enough to have the two of you as teachers at some point in high school. While I may not remember every single academic thing you two taught me in school, I will always remember your love for teaching, and how that love and passion rubbed off on me and I actually looked forward to coming to class every day. EVERY child deserves teachers like the two of you. Thank you for impacting my life in such a positive way.

Helping people in other countries, can also help the United States.
Take Greg Mortenson's charity www.ikat.org for example. He fights terrorism by providing education to Afghani and Pakistani kids, particularly girls. By spending a lot of time with people in Afghanistan and Pakistan, Mortenson found out just how important a secular education is. The only option many kids in these countries have is to attend fundamentalist schools called madrassas where they are taught extremism. By providing secular educations, Mortenson ensures that kids learn there are ways of thinking other than just blindly following the extremist beliefs. They are then much less likely to become terrorists and suicide bombers, which ultimately helps the United States.
Surely that is a good thing, even though they don't live in the United States?
What the Ngobi's are doing is wonderful, and they have my respect and support. Any person helped, no matter where they live, is an awesome thing.

So someone who is 35 now, should have to post a sign in his or her yard year round, never be around kids unsupervised, and have to be a registered "sex offender" because 17 years ago, when they were 18 years old, they had sex with their 16 year old girl or boyfriend? Apparently none of you know of any instances where a junior in high school is dating a freshman in college, or a senior is dating a sophomore? Yes, the older one is clearly a sexual predator who needs to be locked up for years and upon release monitored constantly...
There is a HUGE difference between the situation I described above and a creepy old guy molesting 5 year old's for years.
And yes gonefishin, clearly I MUST be
a sex offender because I don't believe in lifetime punishment for 2 high school kids having sex.

Some people are registered sex offenders because they were 18 and had a 15 or 16 year old girlfriend... are they scumbags that shouldn't be allowed to ever live a normal life again?

"OPEN your eyes infidels. It's Shiria law 101. Move in, grow in numbers, push for your own system of laws."
Really? I doubt that Dearborn, Michigan (a city where almost 1/3 of the population are Muslim) follows Sharia law.
My guess is that 90% of the people who are against mosques/Muslims know nothing about Islam (except for what they hear on Fox News).
People fear what they don't understand, and I've got a solution: learn about the religion and the people and maybe you won't be afraid anymore.

jvlmomof6:
I think I'd rather go to hell and be surrounded by the: "fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, effeminate, homosexuals, thieves, covetous, drunkards, revilers and swindlers" (as you say) than to go to heaven and be among people (like yourself) who say self-righteous, judgmental, hateful, intolerant, and very rude things about others.
Who are you to condemn other people to hell? Save your prayers- no one needs or wants them when they come from such a dark and angry place.
