On Attorney: Township’s car towing practices illegal

Well when you do 505 tows a year, I suspect that you need to use the radio once in a while, wouldn't ya think. I do think that BT has enough radio traffic and stays busy enough to have their own channel and dispatcher. Just the same as JVL and Beloit having their own channels. But this would cause more tax dollars unless they use the money from the tows to eat some of the expense. Something to think about. And for the dispatchers, BT having their own channel would be more job security for you people. Everyone wins!

Not sure on the approval status of Alisankus on Forbeck that you speak of belisamasana. Don't think that is an issue. Tom Alisankus is the Evansville Municipal Court Judge as well as an attorney so I am guessing that he is on to something or knows what he is talking about. Otherwise I do not think he would go public with this information that would embarrass him professionaly if he was wrong. Oh yeah he is also a police officer so all the more reason to have his facts straight.

6 in one hand - 1/2 dozen in the other. Either way the Township needs money to operate. Lets just hope that by generating this revenue from towing vehicles that it is somewhat a tax releif for the citizens. Why not take the money from the criminals and low-lifes instead of the upstanding citizens who make sure that we obey the law and keep our driving privledges valid. As far as the Township being liable for the offender's vehicle, I disagree. As far as I am concerned, if you are breaking the law and get caught and are unable to drive your vehicle, too bad! Should've thought about that before hand.

Joy M......I do not believe that it is an issue of the Sheriffs' Department "Not wanting to respond." Um here is how it works. The origional case came from Evansville. The Sheriffs' Department needed to make sure that all of the facts are straight by conferring with EVPD. This is a smart thing to do before they go and deprive someone of their freedom, don't ya think? As far as the police go, Dale B is right. catch 22 either way. If the deputies would have responded right away, someone would've gotten overtime. Sheriffs' Dept. budget goes up and people get mad because taxes go up. This was a property crime not life or death.
