On Janesville school budget nearly balanced

Posted on June 29 at 8:09 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Read the last paragraph again. This is only a few of the dozens and dozens of good teachers taking jobs in a distict were they are appreciated by the community and board. Replacing these excellent teachers will be hard this late in the hiring process.

My guess would be that the football team was only there long enough to grab their gear and get to a safe place. I am sure the administration and Coach Dye's number one concern is the safety of their players.

Don't blame the cops they don't make the law. If they didn't bust the party and a kid got hurt you would all be screaming for their heads.

I like Denmark's law, drink beer at 16, hard liqour at 18, but DRIVE AT 21. Unfortunately the US is to big to have the public transportation system Denmark does. Our society depends on cars simply do to our geography.

I disagree make it 19 so it stays out of high schools. But first drunk driving $1,000. Second $3,000, third $5,000 and 6 months in jail, etc.

On Janesville School Board OKs teacher contract

Posted on September 23 at 8:16 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

Peace I am so tired of this. The JEA took less than a state average raise. Mr. Sodeman at the end said, "If anyone can give me numbers why this is good I would change my vote." I wish I had the option to stand up and talk. The LOWEST average he could find was 1.75% per year. This contract is: 0% year 1, 2.25% year 2, 2% year 3, and 2% year 4. Add those up and you get 6.25% for FOUR years, so 6.25% divided by four is 1.56% Peace, Mr. Sodeman, that is LOWER than the LOWEST state average per cell increase!!!! Way lower than the WEAC 2.25% or state administrators 2% figures for average per cell increase!
************************
The JEA understood the taxpayers plight and traded salary for working conditions. It's called negotiating, thank them for the sacrifice and move on. As Mr. Ardery said Flint (I think, maybe Detroit) Michigan got 4% per cell, and they are worse of economically than Janesville. I say, we should thank the JEA for being willing to keep taxes low.

The numbers don't lie if you compare apples to apples! Which is the only fair comparison.

Sigma, do you live in Wisconsin? Tailgating as in the flipped down back of a pickup truck filled with beer, usually a grill or two. Everyone stands around drinks, eats and talks before a football or baseball game. So its half grilling half sports.

On Janesville teachers contract approved

ghmjr, Unforutunately the JEA does not get to choose who builds the buildings they teach in. The JEA did take a lower than average contract increase to help the taxpayers of Janesville. They deserve some credit here.

On Janesville teacher pact raises ire at meeting

Bill Sodeman apologized, where is DuWayne Severson's apology he called out two teachers by name without knowing the facts in a mean spirited attempt to earn cheap points. That man showed no class, no taste, and no leadership. To specifically insult two teachers, one who is a teacher of the year, without the facts is appauling and shows his lack of character. What are you teaching our children, what kind of leader are you DuWayne Severson? Do the children of Janesville a favor and resign NOW!

On Time for a FREEZE! Janesville teacher contract.

Mr. E,
Where were you? I just got back from the public comment at the Janesville School Board meeting on the teacher contract and you were NOT there. What kind of LEADERSHIP is that? Ask people to come talk, then don't show yourself. Is that not the definition of a HYPOCRIT? Or is it someone who marches for his OWN raises when he teaches, the asks teachers NOT to take one NOW!!!!
