On My biggest pet peeve

I'm with you, too.
*Try* to kill grass, and you can't. It'll come back no matter how dry it gets.

As for the time of day people are watering, could be they are only home during the day and can't water in the evenings or mornings because they're working. But, it could also be they are just not informed about how much of the water they are paying for is being evaporated.

On Are you buying (more) locally?

Posted on August 7 at 11:07 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

Yes. We used to drive to the store we perceive to have lower prices, but now we bike to the store that's closest.

We've always tried to do all our weekly shopping in one trip, but there's always something we forget or run out of.

On I need to drop the Sun Drop

Kayla has a good idea. Don't go cold turkey; cut back in small, managable stages.

Also, pay yourself for each can of soda you DON'T drink each day. Any day you don't drink that third can, put the money you'd have spent on it in a jar. At the end of the month, buy something fun for yourself.
Then, think how much more money you'll have next month if you don't drink the second can...

I think Intern Matthew explained the photographer's point of view brilliantly.

On What's in a name?

I was "Rosie" until I moved to Wisconsin. then, for no reason whatsoever, I was magically just "Rose".
So, when Stan would answer the phone and the caller asked for Rosie, he'd hand the phone to me and say, "I don't know who it is, but they're from Michigan." :)

On John Stamos will be in Beloit Sunday

-tsk- I dunno if I'd classify it as "mania", Beth. I mean, it's not like I screamed like a school girl and fainted or anything... at least not that *you* saw.

If ever I fawned over John Stamos, it was while he was Blackie on General Hospital.

On Milton loves a good mystery

Nice post, Stacy!

Other Rock County libraries have "mystery clubs", too. If you can't make it to Milton, ask your local library what they offer! :-)

On Inked.

I always thought if I'd ever get a tattoo, I'd want a little yellow butterfly on my ankle. But, since I *so* do not like pain, I will have to rethink that one.

On How to get rid of a sheetcake

You *threw out* a perfectly good sheet cake when you could have brought it in to work for your co-workers!?!

(You *know* we would have eaten it.)

On Harry Potter and the sleepy morning

While I agree with Beth's assessment of the feelings behind the endless camping, I found the 7th book far too easy to put down during that section.

Whenever Stan Stricker and I are watching any movie that seems to be dragging, we remark, "They're in the tent."
