On Should cameras help critique teachers?

JUST what I need. ANOTHER way to evaluate what I do. Not only do we have to be evaulated by our principals, students, parents, community, the governor, do Professional Development Plans, take tests, but lets video tape me as well. I mean, seriously, do we go this far to evaulate other professions? If it came down to videotaping me working and then assessing how I'm doing, paying no mind to children's behaviour or parent/lack of parent involvement, I'm quitting. Enough with the teacher pressure.

On Walker says he'll talk with Democrats in Madison

I've heard the phone call Mr. WALKER.....it's a trick!

oh yes Dragon, the reason kids are bratty these days is because of those Thug Teachers.....lol Not because of parents, or anything else they may be doing. I love how this WHOLE process has worked so beautifully for Walker. Tearing the state apart and pinning everyone against the workers. How about 9/11? Would even THINK of calling a 9/11 firefighter a thug? But place em in capitol square and they are. Good Lord people.

As part of the union, they negotiate things that have no monetary reason such as professional development hours, planning time, curriculum, etc. Why should Scott Walker decide if I get planning time or not. How is that any different from a government controlled lifestyle? Does he get to decide how much my wage increase is with a Master's Degree? I sure hope not because he doesn't even have a Bachelors....so I'm guessing he wont' value my Masters either....

On Protests to continue today

Posted on February 19 at 1:34 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

If you are against this bill then really, let's just stop commenting on it. People who are for it are loving this. Where were they this week? (at work....I'll save you from having to say that repubs). They have no idea what we do or what our jobs entail. There really is no need to argue this. WE know who is right and debating with some uneducated (not all) people on gazetteextra.com is just a waste of time. I, for one, have homework to do for my last masters class today. Or, as rush limdork says "earn it!" well, I am and will continue to do so. Stay strong unions and ignore the protests because you can't argue with the facts. :) peace! Love! Unions!

If anything, this is putting a dent in college education and telling peopple that going to college really won't get you anywhere (at least in the teaching profession).
.
I wanted to comment on what Walker said TWICE in his interviews. He said, "I dont want the crowds here to drown out the voice of the taxpayers all over the state." Is he aware that the people at the capitol are taxpayers? I'm starting to worry that he thinks public employees don't pay taxes. Seriously....can someone tell him that just in case he really doesn't know?
.
And finally, teachers calling in sick today and yesterday. If you really think that they loved marching in protest against this instead of going to work, picking up their kids from school, and doing their everyday life, then you're mistaken. Is it unfortunate? yes. But, then again, when this bill is passed and teachers can no longer afford to spend that extra 40 a month on student "prizes," or "special lunches" or "class treats," in the END, the KIDS are the ones who are affected by this. The great thing about teaching, is that YES, we can do it anywhere. But we CHOOSE to do it in Wisconsin. Now that choice is being taken away and some will be forced to move. We lost GM. It's almost like Misery Wants Company here in Wisconsin. I pay so and so so you should to! So who loses out? The kids ultimately. Everyone is affected by this. Walker is not a good man. Everyone will see that in due time. The truth always comes out. Ask any teacher that....
