SarahB, you're welcome to come shovel/snowblow my PUBLIC street any time you please! Can I have your phone number to call you when all my neighbors get stuck in our street???

It's bad enough that the city owns my terrace, too. But I have to mow and water that myself.

I supervised at Chrysler and I can honestly say that $14 is a little low for many of the line jobs. I would put a good number at $18. In my opinion, $18 per hour would be a very fair wage. Of course there are some jobs that don't require that, but in most areas of the plant, people work in teams and rotate on different jobs every two hours. Plus, you have to remember, if you drive down the GM employee's wage, GM as a corporation will look to suppliers to cut costs. And, you guessed it, that comes out of the suppliers' employees' pockets. Now you've got your suppliers paying $8 per hour or less. And really, unemployment looks more appetizing than $8 per hour because you'll make more money on unemployment.

You mean Janesville was supposed to provide additional police services at UW - Rock County? Hahaha! We can barely get the current police services that we need throughout the whole city! Not faulting the JPD but the city for not budgeting for it. That additional $81,000 could have added an additional 2.25 police officers to our police department (even with those mediocre wages for professionals designated to serve and protect the community)!

Where'd that $81,000 go, Janesville??? It obviously wasn't added to the snow plow budget so where is it? What did we frivolously (sp?) spend it on???

WTF? We've exhausted our plowing budget IN JANESVILLE??? I wonder if all those cities in California exhausted their budgets on fighting wildfires and maybe all the communities in the Gulf states exhausted their budgets for hurricane preparedness. When the communities in Kansas run out of money do they quite cleaning up after tornados?

Janesville should plan EXTRA cash in the plowing budget every year! If they don't use it by March, allocate it to other special projects that need to be done (like those STUPID speed limit signs on Milwaukee Street & Wuthering Hills Drive that display your speed and have cameras attached to them)! It's clear to me that Janesville would rather spend the extra money on getting Big Brother in place than the safety of its residents. Pathetic!

On Peterson to plead guilty in fatal stabbing

Let's hope Mr. Peterson's punishment is severe. He deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison. Why should he be charged with a lesser count when this man intended to ROB a man and then ended up stabbing him? This is a clearly robbery and murder.

**crosses fingers**

I'm all for GM staying in town but I think that we'll be able to move on without GM. I would like it if they kept their presence here, though.

I've heard that she isn't the most pleasant person. Maybe it will be a good change for her and the Humane Society.

They may not have been going for risky mortgages. I would probably say that in these circumstances, it is a result of the homeowners. If less than a dozen people are going to be affected by this, I have to say those are pretty good odds at most financial institutions.
