I believe the Gazette editors should take down this entire string of comments.
On Slow, no-wake restriction imposed on Rock River

Barnech, you are absolutely correct. I also live on the river and in the past few years I have only seen the Sheriff patrol once during no wake restrictions. I try to flag down violators and tell them about the no wake; half of them are polite and slow down, but half of them ignore me or give me the one finger salute. We need more enforcement.

tom 3205; Do you really think one man caused this mess? How about the Democrats (Dodd, Obama, Frank) who accepted huge donations from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and refused Republican attempts to reform their risky and broken business model? There are many factors that allowed this to happen. The president whether Democrat or Republican, always receives too much credit when the economy is good and too much blame when its bad. Congress has the real power to (usually)cause damage.

Puffer, you are correct; the federal government will own preferred stock (with warrants to buy common stock) in exchange for the funding. Because bank stock prices have fallen so much, it is very likely that the government will make money from this program when they sell the stock. This is a method to provide liquidity so the banks will be able to lend again. This is NOT a handout, but an investment.

This building is not on Main Street; it is on the corner of Court Street and South Parker Drive. The city announced the acquisition of this property several months ago with the stated purpose of demolishing the building to provide more parking.

Folks, this is not a news article; it is an opinion writtem by a nationally syndicated columnist. If you haven't noticed, the Gazette prints columns from others who are quite liberal.

To lauriejnsvll; The only way I was able to get rid of Antivirus XP was to use SpyBot Search and Destroy. Download free from their website; install it on your hard drive and then have it scan for viruses and spy/malware.

I also had Anivirus XP on my computer. It is spyware and very difficult to remove from a computer. Our techie at work told me about SpyBot Search and Destroy; it's a free program and was able to remove Antivirus XP. It takes awhile to scan your computer, but I feel its worth it.
