On Some Janesville city workers could get bonuses under plan

Wow..
I love the positive people here on the blog.
Its 35 grand. Do you really think that it should be returned to you as a taxpayer? That is less than ONE DOLLAR to the average homeowner. ITS ONE DOLLAR! You waste that on a freaking candy bar or lotto tickets at the gas station....
City Council... keep my dollar and give the non-union staff a bone. I would rather have GOOD employees at City hall rather than the vocal minority here on the blog who think they have the required professional background to run the City.

Nice Scottie!
Everyone else cuts jobs but the state ADD's them. SO the local government and schools (Where most of our services comes from) has to cut jobs to make budget but Scottie makes state government leaner by ADDING JOBS? Nice move loser. Can't wait to vote your butt out of office
On Janesville School Board votes not to close a school

I JUST WON THE OFFICE POOL! Yeah! that was as predictable as the sunrise! For the school board they are more worried about perception than doing the right thing. Wow, I am glad I voted for this group! So lets throw some raises in there for those who had to pay for some insurance and retirement too!
Fortunately the City is managed 100% better than the school district and Janesville has quality private elementary education for kids as an alternative to public schools.
On Committee recommends no school closings for Janesville

This is a complete joke. A sham no doubt. WOW, how stupid. Enrollment is dropping and the idiots at the school district cannot figure it out because they are like most other politicians... they don't have the balls to make a difficult decision.
The school board had better step up or there are going to be some people getting voted off the board soon......

jv 93... You obviously don't get it. There is a process set by statue and the City is following it. The assessment must meet the minimum of the fair market value. That is why they can't wait "Forever" as you suggest by your repeated posts to Mr. Angus's comments.
In addition, you obviously don't follow the City process and don't know that the City has been eliminating positions and tightening their belt since '05.
Last..... bulldozers don't warm up until someone lets their property fall into disrepair.
Silks... you clearly don't understand the relationship of the taxes you pay and the services you expect. I wouldn't suggest calling the City any time soon for a service that they don't provide but you obviously expect.
Sigma.... show your money management expertise and run for City Council! Not..... Let me work on voting for you in the next lifetime..
Johndoe..... You are a doe for a reason... you have no nuts....
Unfortunately the moral to this whole thing is that the City needs to add a new program and raise taxes for it... It will be called..... Real estate taxes 101, what your real estate tax pays for and what it should in your dreams.....

Although no man knows the day or time, I believe that I can safely say that Jesus will return before Grafft renovates this building.
Sara Investments put 3+ mill into the building at Main and Milwaukee. This building is just as big. No way will Grafft put that kind of money into this building. He has not put anything like that into any building he owns.
You have better odds betting on the lottery than betting on Grafft.......
On Walk out on Walker has Janesville City Council sparring
Posted on March 31 at 10:55 p.m. ( Suggest removal )
I find this quite humorous as Perotto is calling out Yuri when Perotto himself said at the City Council meeting after Walker announced the budget repair bill that "Walker is doing a good thing. I agree with everything he is doing". How is that NOT partisan politics?
Secondly, I am NOT voting for Frank when he says that he agrees with "everything Walker is doing" and the Republicans are cutting Janesville's revenue from the state by over 2 million and Beloit is only losing 400 k.....
Smart move Frank!
Hope you call him out some more Yuri

I have seen very few intelligent comments here tonight, which is too bad. The bottom line is that regardless of what side you are on, the budget is proposing major shifts of revenue and spending and EVERYONE is getting screwed here. The impact on the Cities (specifically Janesville) is that you will lose services. This might mean that your precious trash collection is privatized and you pay a hauler 40 or 50 bucks a month. It might mean that the Senior Center is closed or softball at Dawson is ran by volunteers. It might mean that you have to pay your water and sewer bill online because the City lays off the clerk that handles your transaction at the Municipal Building. It might mean an ambulance is taken out of service or an officer is taken off the street. Do you really want these things? Well, regardless you may just get them because Walker is looking out for his own interests.. not yours. You get your services from the City and very few from the State. Enjoy the future and thank your neighbors and friends that thought best to vote the way they did.

I am very disappointed in your vote Joe and I hope the City staff the next time the dems say your residency is in question leaves you hanging instead of saving you.
You have one more opportunity to redeem yourself. Walker's budget bill will be coming soon. It will have significant cuts in shared revenue for the Cities (as you know Walker will be stealing from the Cities who provide 90 percent of the services residents get)... and filling his own coffers to offset ridiculous tax breaks, a bloated DNR and to pay for trips to California to play with the Koch brothers.
You need to recognize that major cuts to shared revenue will do nothing more than add tax because there is so many unfunded mandates from the State and local services that MUST be provided. As a result other options for Cities must be provided for (LOCAL OPTION SALES TAX).
The requirement for non police and fire employees to pay half of their pension will not cover Walker's shared revenue cuts because these employees pension contributions is over 75 percent of the overall pension contribution for the City. It's all games Joe. Talk to friends who have a clue rather than your GOP Puppeteers.

On Is city wise to invest in ice arena?
Posted on December 17 at 10:19 p.m. ( Suggest removal )
Wow! The negativity here makes the city look great! The funny thing about all of these negative comments are that they are made by people who have already had the benefit of the recreational and other services that lose money or they are so out of touch with what quality of life is all about that thet might as well live in the western Arizona desert.
Mr McDonald has nailed it perfectly a number of times here. I need to say nothing more other than to clarity that it's not just 200 people who use the ice arena. There are adult hockey leagues with well over 100 people and open skates with hundreds of kids and adults over a year... Not to mention the Jets.
I suggest that if you expect to pay for zero services and amenities that you move someplace with zero services and amenities. Alabama, southern Utah and western New Mexico would serve you well.
