On Birth control redux

Can somebody help me out and cite specific references to ANY religious document that states that members of the religion are forbidden to provide health care which includes birth control? Anybody? Any document at all will do.

On Contraception mandate outrages religious groups

billnewbie: you wrote: "There are also those who the government wants to force to distribute said birth control, whether they want to or not. In other words, there are 2 sets of people here, the birth control users, which the government is not forcing to use birth control (at least not yet anyway), and health care providers, which the government is forcing to distribute regardless of their convictions."

You make it sound like the government is forcing health care providers to go on a door to door birth control distribution campaign. That is not the case.

If you are a health care provider that works anywhere that services people of all religions you are going to deal with people that have different beliefs than you do. These health care providers should not take it as an insult to their religion (or to their beliefs) if their patients want to use birth control. A pharmasist knows that filling prescriptions is part of the job; birth control pills are part of that. If they take the job they know what they are getting in to.

If you believe that good Catholics should take no part in the "distrubution" of birth control then Catholics have a real employment problem. They should not work at any company that makes material that goes into making any form of birth control. They shouldn't work at any factory that actually makes birth control. They shouldn't work for any organization that provides birth control...or that advertises it....or that transports it.....or that prints the information about it...or that hosts websites that contain any reference to birth control. The list can grow depending on your definition of "distribution".

On Contraception mandate outrages religious groups

Why does everybody seem to be overlooking a very simple fact? The government mandate that even religious groups must offer contraceptive coverage in their health care does NOT force even a single person to actually USE birth control.
Let me repeat: THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT FORCING ANYBODY TO GO AGAINST THEIR RELIGIOUS TEACHINGS AND USE BIRTH CONTROL.

Perhaps the real reason that religious groups are angry is that they are losing another method to control their followers. Religious leaders have long known that religions come and go. One of the ways to kill a religion is to reduce the number of followers to a point that there are not enough followers to teach the next generation. "Gods" teachings have little to do with religious bans on birth control. Large families are simply the best way for religions to gain a captive audience that they can use to continue their religion.

On Will you be watching Walker’s speech?

Another protester at the speech just yelled "LIAR" and was promptly escorted out. I wonder how many more protesters are hiding in the audience.

I'm watching live right now and I hear the liberal Walker haters are busy heckling and trying to disrupt his speach. Real classy.

On Athletes could skip gym under new law

"do you know how many hours a day an athlete practices his/her sport during their season? It's a lot more than a 45 min gym class."

donnaw: you are so right. Our athelete children shouldn't be forced to waste their time with classes when they have their games to practice for. We all know that math and science are a meaningless and sports are what really matter. High school is really just prep time to get into the NBA or NFL. These athletes shouldn't be forced to waste their time with homework or studies. Just think how much better the world would be if only the local high school football star had an extra 45 minutes of time to get ready for the big game.

On Wrong way to fight a slur

"For the record: A newborn U.S. citizen can’t help parents who are residing in the country illegally gain legal residency. Not, at least, until that baby has reached adulthood and only after the parents have gone home for three or 10 years before they can even begin the process for legal entry and eventual citizenship." Well, FOR THE RECORD: We have a federal government that sues its own states when the states try to enforce existing immigation laws. We have sanctuary cities where the police are told they CAN'T ask for immigration status. The Feds setup a special hotline for illegals to call if they feel they are mis-treated by Alabama authorities. The Feds tell an effective Arizona Sheriff to stop doing its job of rounding up illegals. Why do we have to worry about newborn US citizens helping illegals when our government seems hell bent on helping illegals at the expense of its own citizens?

On Janesville high school class sizes to increase

oooh, a class size of 32. There goes these kids education. Nobody could possible learn in a class of that size.....or can they?
If these kids go on to higher education they will likely have Freshmen classes at state universities where the class sizes may be 50+ and held in multi-tiered lecture halls. Class size is NOT the biggest factor in a young adults education. Personal desire to learn IS.

Either ban ALL religious (or anti-religious)displays or allow displays from any and all who apply. Simple.
However, if they ONLY ALLOW christian display it is againt the law.

On Is movement to recall Walker right or wrong?

Posted on December 7 at 9:21 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

The movement being right or wrong depends on how you define right and wrong.
The people in the recall Walker movement (heavily union backed) certainly have the legal right to petition for a recall. I simply think they are being rather short sighted.
We DO have a budget crisis. Do these people simple want us to continue to tax and spend and go further into debt? Walker is actually DOING HIS JOB and trying to contain Wisconsins financial problems. Will these same people try to recall the next elected Governor if he/she is just as aggressive in fixing Wisconsins budget?
