On Janesville referendum transfers remain a puzzle

Where's Hank ???
I'm sure the money was somehow swindled towards the building of a new ice rink!!!

If I ran this team, I would certainly do whatever was necessary to help the first year be successful. Seems to me when you have a LOCAL goalie good enough to play at this level, you would make sure you get him on board to draw more local fans. How in the world did they let Jacobson get away ???

On Hockey team decision delayed

I agree....people have no business drinking and driving....
But why is that the focus here?? The people that make those bad decisions will do it regardless if there is a hockey team here or not. There are plenty of other places to do it. Should we not have any bars or restaurants either??
Perhaps there should be an inquiry to other Cities to see how they handle it? I have been in literally thousands of different ice rinks in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, and Michigan over the years, and I can tell you that better than 75% of them have facilities for selling Beer...and most of them do not have Junior Teams. I think it would be interesting to inquire with the facilities or the Cities to see if it is a problem. I have never seen an issue, and I have attended a lot of hockey games. However, I think it would be better get input from existing situations to get the facts rather than just jumping to conclusions that it will be a problem.

Superdave and PB594 - A few years ago when my kids were in hockey, there was a group that wanted to buy the ice rink. The City would not sell it. At the time, I believe the greatest resistance to the proposal was again the Figure Skating Group because they were concerned about losing their ice time.

On Mauermanns sweep top hockey honors

WOW...Most impressive. Mauermann must be doing something right. I believe this is two conference titles, two Sectional Championships, and two trips to State in the last 4 years. With the talent that's returning, they should be one of the top two preseason favorites in the State for next year. Great season and keep up the good work Bluebirds!!!!

Not sure I agree with opening an old wound?!?
I was hoping we were past all of that.
I'm glad the kids were able to get past everything and have such a wonderful year. It was truly a joy to watch.
I also want to commend the fans that supported the team all year and at State. The following was terrific. The number of Janesville fans far surpassed the total of any other team at the State tournament.

Good for the kids and the coach for putting all the bologney from the off season behind them and bringing everything together.
This is the one sport that you see Craig and Parker students sitting together and cheering.
Great for the community. I just hope the almighty WIAA board doesn't kill it all with excessive penalties for the latest code infraction by one naive player!!

I can tell you that the hockey player involved in this did not realize he was doing anything wrong. Shame on him and his parent's for not understanding the rules...that's what the code meetings are for.
HOWEVER; as soon as the school officials and coach learned of the situation, they immediately suspended that player from the team and turned all info directly over to the WIAA. The player was punished. It seems ludicrous to punish the whole team and make them forfeit games. I also understand that the player involved is primarily a JV player and has played a VERY limited amount of time(2 minutes?) in Varsity games.
It would be complete overkill to make the Varsity team forfeit any number of games.
