Southsider1- let me help shed some light. That was put in place after the high school was built. Evansville Police does the school patrol around the school which includes part of Union TWSP roadways (Old 92, parts of Fifth St, etc). The officers can write tickets to municipal court in union twsp. It's a good agreement for both the City and Union township and the kids that go to school there. This would allow officers to write tickets on any union township road but it's still Rock Counties primary responsibility and Rock County still does all the responding to complaints etc. Although they can always ask for mutual aid. Hope this is helpful and informative.

Crickett- I agree with you. And I thought he stunk as president. But we should all be respectful anyway. It's neat regardless what side of the fence you're on. I also loved that Obama was in Madison and I also love the lizard comment. HA

Steve,
HA! Loved this article. Loved that you called it Janesburg. And who cares if they pull your paper. The people at these restaurants are only using it as a bib anyway. Let them use the free adds for that. They'll still read it online.

I wish I could have been that kid. Kudos to a super cool dad. No one was hurt, no one was in danger, and he was right there with them to be certain the right things were said. The kid spoke more clearly then most people who live in Rock County.

EMMO46, they get other agencies to relieve each other. It makes complete sense - we wouldn't want exhausted SWAT members in heavy gear trying to keep focused for multiple hours. Has nothing to do with the budget - but has everything to do with keeping people at their best and alert at all times. And look - it worked...they got the guy out, no one hurt, people home safe and sound to their family's. Now get on with your life. Oh, and make a donation to your local police it'll make you feel better about yourself.
