On McPoland loses his battle with cancer

Since 2003, I have had a professional working relationship with John as he covered the local auto racing scene. We have had our share of conversations, arguements, and laughs. But, he was passionate about his work as a writer. He felt he was one of the best ones out there.
The last time John and I saw each other was back on June 30th when he came to Madison International Speedway to cover a race with Matt Kenseth & Tony Stewart. I didn't recognize him until he started talking to me. The first thing I asked him was how he was doing and like he stated above, he had a very positive attitude about it. He wasn't going to let this disease to stop him from what enjoyed doing.
With a smile on my face, I will say this...Dale Earnhardt, Alan Kulwicki, Joe Shear and other racers who he will be joining in Heaven...watch out!!! You will be having a reporter come and ask you some tough questions and he will not be afraid to ask them.
Take Care John.
