On Republican or Democrat? It’s not supposed to matter at local level

"... if the Gazette was truly concerned about the fact that so many of the candidates for local offices belong to political parties, it could have highlighted the fact that in these turbulent times, so many of our outstanding young men and women - from business owners to government employees - are stepping up and taking leadership roles in our communities by getting involved in political parties (nothing wrong with that) and by running for local elected offices. ..." – http://yurirashkin.blogspot.com/

Shame on you, Gazette! Local political offices have been filled with hierarchy from the local GOP for decades - including many office holders now - and yet you choose to run an article about partisan politics now? Get real. It was the GOP who proudly and visibly promoted using local offices as stepping stones to higher office back in the 1970s. There never has been and never will be anything nonpartisan about any elected office. Instead of trying to run Democrats down, why not THANK those who choose to run for these usually unappreciated, and as in the case of the Council, VOLUNTEER jobs?

Without an educated electorate as the basis of WIsconsin integrity, creativity, and honor, there is no future. Perhaps that's why Walker's education "tools" are NOT working no matter how much he'd like to spin the story ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xK759WioD...

On Signs of the times: Rock County tackles concealed carry complications

Wisconsin Anti-Violence Effort - Madison (http://www.waveedfund.org) has info on the legal liability given they've been fighting the MYTH of liability protection lost if a public place posts. The built-in incentive in the new law for allowing concealed carry has caused deliberate confusion. In reality, any place that posts has no more legal liability than they did prior to Nov. 1. Check the FACTS and don't believe the fear-mongers and NRA. Locally, some places that post for your health, safety and general community welfare such as the Janesville Mall, O'Riley and Conways, Jo-ann's Fabrics, and many more should be thanked. Those who are not posted and still considering should be directed toward RELIABLE sources of legal advise.

“If you’re doing something negligent, you may be liable,” he said." ... That is NO different than the current law. Removing liability in this law was inserted as an incentive to force allowing guns and, thus, provide environments less conducive to the health and well being of their patrons. Any public place that posts as a "gun free zone" shall have no more liability issues than they did prior to this egregious attempt to appease the NRA over the welfare of the people. Alaska has the highest number of guns per capita and the highest gun deaths. Hawaii the least in both categories. The people of Wisconsin did not want nor need to join the ranks of the other 48 states who are dying with the consequences of bad law.

"People who get permits in states which have fair right-to-carry laws are law-abiding, upstanding community leaders who merely seek to exercise their right to self-defense." Too bad for the NRA that the numbers tell a different story:

Clearly human evolution passed someone by. A very sad day when a legislator bows to SELF-INITIATED fear (he did vote for concealed carry, correct?) over reason instead of doing his job advancing the well-being and will of the People of Wisconsin keeping us all safe from those like himself.
