Curtain Call,
Are you alledging that Mason voted for his best interest (avoiding a higher tax bill for curb and gutter)? The new road is going between first and fourth streets. Mayor Decker is the only one with an address between 100-400 on W. Main Street. I discovered that with a minimal amount of due dilligence by going to the city site http://www.ci.evansville.wi.gov/city/com... Do a minimal amount of research before you start making allegations. Anything past fifth street is pretty new and shouldn't need to be rebuilt for years to come.

"The park board recommended the council move forward with the dredging without a referendum" OF COURSE!!! Ringhand didn't feel the need to listen to anyone as mayor and I suppose this won't change until she loses an election. I guess it is easier to justify ignoring the will of the majority if it isn't spelled out in black and white in a referendum. I wish I lived in her alder district!
On GM will shutter Janesville plant

I don't think anyone is bashing the GM employees. I don't work there, but I do know some employees and I don't doubt that there is a hard working group of employees there, that are loyal to GM. Unfortunately, upper management has put this factory in this situation. GM could be thriving if they had looked more forward and produced higher mpg cars. They fought the electric mandate in California when they had a viable Saturn electric (EV1). If they had looked more at cars like the Prius they would be doing well. It is too bad that management put employees in this position. Management will probably land on their feet and run another company into the ground and the hard working line workers will be the ones who struggle. If they close alltogether it will be a sad day for the workers and the community in general. I hope the Janesville plant makes it.
On AT&T will offer cable alternative

I believe the legislation that AT&T bought with campaign donations doesn't allow individual cities any say in cable franchise negotiations and doesn't give the city or residents any rights as far as box placement or whether they are underground boxes. The boxes won't be on every law or even every subscribers lawn, but it's possible one could be sitting in your front yard even if you don't subscribe to uverse.

Not only was Clinton's impeachment a shameless witchhunt, it was also a successfull short term maneuver that propelled GWB into office (remember Gore distancing himself from Clinton and not having him campaign for him). It also is going to have the unintended effect of destroying the GOP for a longtime to come. Hopefully Obama will be given the chance to start repairing the damage that GWB gas done to our econony, our constitution, international relations, etc. and as far as the GOP, you won't be missed!

They like to think that every buck they have ever made in the city was a great selfless act. If you don't believe it just ask them, they would love to take the time to tell you about their selfless dedication to the city.

I think it is concerning that Alderman Juergen's isn't running again? He alledgedly wanted to push Lake Leota through without public consent and was willing to "take the heat" from his constituents if he didn't get re-elected. If he wasn't planning on running this is very manipulative. Perhaps he had a change of heart and was intending to run at the time he stated that?

On Evansville faces $132,000 budget shortfall

Maybe they should go to the developers who lined their greedy pockets while putting the city in the position to need a new Waste Water Treatment Facility, pushing the the limits of the school facilities, etc. The one good side effect of this recession is that uncontrolled growth has stopped.
