keepitrealnow - yes, I do know the woman in question and that is exactly what she is doing, let's see how many other people she can stab in the back. I guess she wants everyone and their neighbor to think poorly of her. Evindently the rest of the town is BLIND!

To everyone else with the question of the number of documents recovered, as I understood it the total of 200,000 was the amount recovered office wide, that is every computer over several years time and many employee's. Also that is total documents, not the number of "personal" ones or "racist and dirty or sexual either" come on, read between the lines. A few people in this town are trying to ruin a good man and have done nothing more than succeeding in giving our town a bad name, a reputation of being a bunch of bickering, back stabbing, crazies who just want to blame everyone else instead of working together to fix anything!!!

Wow, I can't belive how blind everyone is who have posted comments on this blog!! Thankfully we have a new VP!!! Hurray!!! Howver with regards to the Chief, he has served us well for years, then we get an idiot VP who pushes the old boys club to stir up the pot, most people would consider Metzners actions while VP scary, especially from a legal stand point!! To add it all up the board hires Maltese against the advise of the chief and the board that reviewed all the aplicants. Talk about throwing a wrench in the machine, (Dave we miss you!!!) and to top it all off you have the only female employee involved in an affair. People put 2 and 2 together. Chief and her husband are friends!!! Hello, piss people off much? Anyone who knows Chief and his lovely wife personaly know that there was no affair, the town would have heard about it and its concequences, just like they did her true affair and the spliting of 2 families. Read the writing on the wall. And to those of you who claim that sll this comes down to the chief using the computer for personel reasons, you tell me that you have never checked your personal Email at work or taken a personal phone call, should we fire you? Let's put it in perspective and think about whats best for our town and for our protection, I'll stick with Steve and Chuck and Chet any day of the week.

On Darien firefighters want chief to take action against troublesome employee

For all of you who like to complain about the lack of response from Fire and EMS members, and to blame those members of the Fire Department who resigned. Maybe you should volunteer. Thats just it. Every member of both departments is a volunteer! They have full time jobs, families, and other resposiblilties. Instead of paying the clerical staff from the Village $50,000 a year or the Public works Department overtime and benifits to part time employees, maybe Darien could have a few full time paid employees for fire/rescue. Unfortunatley this is Darien we are talking about, politically nothing has changed in the Village or township in 50 years, why now. I think that anyone who is concerned about their safety in any part of Dairen needs to speak up and both village and township meetings, I also think that if you feel that there are not enough members on either department that you should seriously concider volunteering you time! talk about put up or shut up! Just think about how many hours each and every member puts in for schooling, meetings, and trainings, not to mention calls. Just a thought,Justawelder, maybe you should volunteer on the departments since you seem to have all the answers, Or better yet maybe you should really keep track of the police department, just incase they ever leave the station at the corner market. Are you kidding do you even read the Darien newsletter or do you just see what you want too???

In this case I agree with Metzner not to let this drop. In the past when the issue has been brought to Logterman, nothing was done. Over the past year or more alot of breath has been wasted trying to get the member at hand to understand that the things he has done are wrong. I think that bringing it out into the open may be the only way to get the issue resolved.

also anyone who thinks the members who left the department are whinners are sadly mistaken. They were great members of the department and will be very missed.

Thank you for recognizing All the Volunteers. Unfortunatley at this point in time the member in question has drove away several very good members, regardless of their connection with EMS volunteers. The person at hand has over stepped his bounds and is a liability. As for going to the boards, board meetings have been held on both fire and rescue to try to control him. also on more than one occastion the issues have been brought to the township president. I agree with the person who said the paper should due more digging. If something isn't done soon even more members will leave. this is not a new issue, just one that is being brought public.

I don't care how you look at it, half of that area takes almost that 30 minutes to get to from either area. Besides that is not the issue. The issue at hand is that it is hard enough to get and KEEP volunteers. Having things happen where a person gets out of control only makes that an even harder task. It is just more proof that the volunteer system is on a downward spiral.

I can'tbelieve that this is over $80.00. Give me a break. As the chief who knows how many miles he drove, hours he worked, etc all unacounted for. Based on what the article says he should just repay the 80 bucks, say he sorry and let everyone get on with their lives. How much is this $80 going to cost everyone in the long run.
