Heat, JVL pawn shops are required to supply JPD with all pawn slips & statement of ownership.
Does that mean no stolen items are pawned? Of course not. But it makes it easier to catch a thief if they've signed as the owner of stolen property & the real owner is able to establish rightful ownership of the items. The local thieves know this & sell items which can be ID'd by the real owner elsewhere.

You're right, Janesvillean.
In order for the gun scenario to work, the homeowner has to be at home!
Guns are routinely stolen/resold on the black market, which makes gun control laws ineffective.
I'm not against concealed carry, and I approve of homeowners having a weapon to protect their families. But there's no way a homeowner should lay in wait with a gun. It's a recipe for disaster on so many levels.

Heroin is a main reason for the majority of these burglaries.
Local pawn shops aren't taking the stolen merchandise; the JVL area shops fully disclose all goods to LE, as well as ID/signatures of ownership of everyone who pawns the goods.
In the recent past, it was discovered alot of stolen merchandise was fenced by a private citizen who accepted it as payment for drugs.
The problem is much bigger/complex than a thief taking the goods to the local pawn shop.
And the gun comment was just silly.

You can't compare sounds like "Unchained", "Panama", etc. to "Why can't this be love?" or "Finish what you started". They just don't have the brown sound.
Sammy is a great musician & brought better arrangements/lyrics to the table, but the final mix of the songs didn't sound as good to me.
Eddie is the greatest. I think his best studio recordings were on their 1st few albums, so I say Dave era wins.

34 isn't correct either...104 includes administration, ID, detectives, etc.
Actual number of patrol officers on the street at one time is less than 15, sometimes as few as 8.

Heat, I agree completely.
The point is a burglar can't be caught by simply walking into a JVL pawn shop & finding the stolen merchandise. That's all I was commenting on.
I think JPD keeps a close eye on the local pawn shops/owners & makes it hard (not impossible) for them to fence merchandise.
I attended an in-service in which a JVL officer spoke about the steps they took with pawn shops. I think they have a good system.
