On Billboard near shuttered GM plant causes stir

Apparently Walkers publicity people didn't bother to look into the placement of the billboards. Because that billboard is a huge middle finger to the town of Janesville and all those who live there.

On High marks for Janesville School District

I'm sorry but I come from a small town, and when I see how Janesville schools are ran well I'm not happy about it. In my personal experience I am speaking not in general. My personal experience is that with bad parents who allow their children to skip school and the schools don't catch on. How do they not catch on? In this case in the last 3 months two children have missed around a month and half of school between a week here or two consecutive days there. If that happened in my home town even with a doctors note the school would be involved and questioning it. Which would at least make the bad parents re-think allowing their children to stay home all the time. The real reason for the misses being they don't want to fight with their children to get them up in the morning. Sorry it's part of being a responsible parent. Sorry. Just had to ask.

On Wis. officials: Stay home when storm hits

Oh Lordy! It's going to snow say it aint so!!! It never snows in Wisconsin! Oh help help help. Seriously folks, It's Wisconsin you can have every season by dinner time in one day so why is it such a shock. Drive slow, leave early for your destination, and dress appropriately. (This also means parents before you leave make sure your kids are wearing the RIGHT cloths even if they are teenagers seeing girls in little skirts and guys in shorts in the snow makes me cold and also makes me want to beat their parents in the head!) Make sure you have a small kit with water, or canned food, and a couple blankets in the car and off you go. Most of us can't afford to miss work and frankly I know a lot of kids who can't afford to miss school either!

On Christmas cutbacks: Families reducing holiday expenses

Posted on December 7 at 4:13 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Now is the time of year to remind children that the holidays aren't about what kind of gifts you get from others but spending time with your family. I don't even bring religion into the picture it is simply family time, time to celebrate that you are lucky to have a family and a warm place to live. It is also a time to think about others and encourage your children to help those in need as well, IF you can. Not all of us even with two working adults in the family are making ends meet. Sometimes things have to be gone without, in that case if you don't have the extra to spare share your time with others. Have a friend who is struggling come over for dinner help your children make homemade cards for the elderly. There are so many things that are more important than gifts in general. In a world where 10 year olds have cell phones just because they want them and children demand laptops and game systems it's time to give them a reality check about what the holidays truly mean. Down with greed and materialism and up with love!

On Underage drinking

I agree with you colran. A big problem with teenage drinking and parenting in general is the parents inability to realise they can't be their childs friend all the time. I call it permissive parenting. The children have control of the home and their parents. A parent should be the one to make rules and enforce them. I see to many children left to care for themselves and their younger siblings while mom or dad will buy them a laptop or expensive cloths to satisfy their need for interaction with them. It's frightening the lack of respect children have for adults these days and the lack of respect and relaistic love parents have for their children.Children now expect to be given what they want or their parents don't love them. I've seen children dictate what the groceries are to the extreme. They won't eat off brand food or drink off brand soda. Their parents have allowed them to relate love with money. As far as the drinking goes parents want to have them drink at home because they know what they are doig then and they are the cool parent. Instead of telling them about their own experiences or because of that they want to watch them do it. The same is said for drug abuse. Parents are still on the "If I tell them about my drug use in the past they will do drugs." sex is viewed the same way. What needs to happen is parents need to take the authority back in their relationships and they need to be honest with their kids. Stop buying them off and realise sometimes you have to be the bad to guy to do whats right for your child! Sorry my soapbox. :)

On Beer tax considered

I have an idea. How about instead of raising taxes on alcohol we take the cable TVs out of jail and computers as well. How about we make jail more of a jail and less of a country club for the inmates hm? AND have harsher punishments on first time offenders so they aren't so likely to re-offend 13 times before they are put in jail? Sound good? Any objections?

On 13-time drunken driver sentenced

Yet again welcome to the Judicial System! She was allowed to have 13 offenses! She could have killed herself of a child driving drunk! What is wrong with the court system she should have been locked up after the first one. I say after you have ONE offense your license is taken away for 2 years and if you are caught driving you get 5 years in jail MANDITORY and you get no probation or good behavior. Maybe that will scare people enough they wont take others lives in their hands!

On Lafayette man gets life in prison for sexually assaulting young girl

So this is what is wrong with the judicial system. Why was he allowed to do this heinous act how many times did you say brwe 3 times? We need harsher punishments on first time offenders. Had this monster been locked up the first time and stayed locked up 2 other children wouldn’t be mentally and physically ruined for the rest of their lives! Sexual abuse is one of if not the hardest thing to overcome and its’ effects stay with you long into adulthood. This thing should be forced to have done to him what he did to the children (of course after being chemically and physically castrated so he gets no enjoyment) and be lobotomized. Because as we all know sexual assault isn’t always about sex its more likely than not about the power the perpetrator has over the victim that gives him or her satisfaction. I believe in harsh punishment for those who ruin others lives especially a childs life. And why put them up on jail where they get 3 square meals a day and exercise for an hour? Why give them any rights at all when they took away innocence? I say lock them in a room with other inmates and tell them what they did and let the inmates kill him or her. Why not? What use is he or she to society? A waste of the states money and the precious air and food we have. Harsh….You bet. I want to see anyone who hurts a child killed….why give them rights. They aren’t humans, they are monsters.
