On Local GM workers hope for a bailout

For Paul and anybody else who thinks that Pattycakes is Patty on medical (who know where) and that Macdaddy is her husband, please know you are EXTREMELY wrong. I honestly didn't read this article and only came on to see what I or my husband was being accused of saying. I only wish the best for everyone involved in what's going with GM. We have many neighbors that work for GM (some of them-both husband and wife work for GM) and some co-workers' spouses that are retired from GM so I hope everyone is able to benefit from this unfortunate demise. Thanks!

I hardly ever respond to these blogs, but I feel that this one I must. I hear a lot of people complaining about Mercy and yes, there may be things that need fixing, but that is in ALL hospitals. If you feel that something needs fixing and you're not getting satisfaction, complain again, or try to take it to a higher level. I had a big billing issue where a Dean doctor was covering for Mercy and I had problems with the billing service. It took a while to fix and when I got my survey on my care instead of filling it out I called and spoke with the director. It was resolved and I was happy.
Before anyone asks, yes I work for Mercy. I have also worked at other hospitals in Milwaukee and had a child with a lot of medical problems so was at CHW in Milwaukee a lot. Even at a hospital that specialized in children, there were problems. The way I dealt with that is that I spoke up when I felt a problem and fought until I felt the treatment/answer was best for my child. Can doctors and others make mistakes? Yes, they're not god (even though some feel they are).
We moved here a few years ago and I went to Mercy (before I got a job there) and got great care. My son's doctor was/is great and when he was hospitalized everyone was caring and treated him with respect. When they questions re: what to do with him (how to position him, etc, due to his med problems/disabilities) instead of just assuming or being rough with him, they asked us and were very gentle. Then when he passed away and was brought to the ER, everyone was compassionate. They gave my family all the time we needed with him, covered him with a warm blanket (comforting thing for us), sent us a courtesy cart, kept checking on us, gave special attention to his little sister, etc. For that, the people in the ER have a special place in my heart.
As an employee, I am sorry that people have had problems there. I believe that it can happen anywhere, but if you're being seen or trying to be seen or are an inpatient when you have a complaint, please let the caregiver/area know your complaint immediately. If you don't and wait till you leave, then it is more difficult to try to fix.
I hope everyone has a good day. Thank you for letting me tell you my position and respecting my feelings.
Sincerely,
Patty

I agree with raystone, I'd be willing to pay for online service if I receive everything I would with print for a cheaper price of course since we're not using ink, paper, etc. Currently I only subscribe to Sunday papers (will always due that for sales papers, etc) but the rest of the info I get online.

Does anyone know how Nate is doing? Last thing I read from "grumpy" is that they were going to try to decrease his meds and see what progress and/or damage Nate has. I pray that he doesn't have any permanent problems.

I work where Nathan works and he is a GREAT kid! I never would have met him and realized what a nice guy he is (he's very quiet) except I took care of a relative of his. I say a prayer everyday that he gets better and that Kim, Joe, Kathy and the rest of the family are doing all right and supporting each other. I had a child die from medial problems in his sleep and I could NEVER imagine watching my child suffer and be in pain and know I couldn't do anything about it.
Yes, doing this wasn't wise, but lets face it, how many of us did things as kids that we shouldn't have?? I'm 33 and I admit I did, but I learned from it. Hopefully this has opened a lot of kids eyes but I wish it wouldn't have taken this to have done it.
Grumpy-thank you very much for updating us on Nathan. Everyday I come to work I try to see how he is doing. I miss seeing him on the med floor on weekends when he would come up and I would say hi and ask him how his grandparents are doing. My prayers and thoughts are with all of you!! Give Kim a huge hug please!! I can't imagine what she is going through and I hope Nathan can come through this with no permanent problems. Hugs to you all!!

Just for the record, I was wondering how someone "knew" that Milton and Janesville PD were in the neighborhood as well as RCSD. I know for a fact that is someone calls 911 from Waterman Estates, it is the RCSD that responds since Waterman is in Harmony Township. Also I passed his house at 9:50 last night to get home and no one was outside wandering.
I hope he gets the help he needs and is able to work through everything. I will especially keep his children in my prayers.
