On Homeowner cited in incident

I'm confused. Was the cop off-duty or was he responding to a call there? Either way, he should not have touched her. Also, the owner of the house got a ticket but not the illegal drinkers who were all adults. Why was there a trade-off there? Why were the officers who responded leinient in issuing tickets? It's not up to the officers to interpret the law; that's up to the courts.

It should be given to teachers who already teach envrionmental education i.e. Dave Bendlin and his Environmental Studies class at Milton HS.

Bunbun-my lawnmower, weedwhacker, and chainsaw work fine with 10% ethanol fuels. Do you have old or under-used equipment? My weedwhacker is 20+ years, but my mower and chainsaw are less than 3 years old. I always buy my fuel at either Arndt's in Milton or KwikTrip. At Arndt's, you can have 100% gasoline or the 10% ethanol blend.

Apparently he's guilty until proven innocent here. I am not making excuses for what he did or didn't do. It will be difficult to find jurors when this goes to trial....
On High groundwater levels complicate life in a Janesville neighborhood

I'm surprised that the city hasn't jumped on these people about how they dispose of the water. I say this because it is illegal to pump the water out into the street; it should be pumped back into the septic system. I would guess that this is the least of Rich and his wifes worries right now.
There is no guarantee that the groundwater will subside, and building in a floodway/floodplane is never a good idea unless you are a beaver. There are a lot of homes in this area that have been flooded, and not just on this block- the whole area is a floodplane.
The problem is that there are houses in places where there should not be any. Unfortunately in this story, these people cannot afford to raise their house and may be forced to move.
So when does the city step in and take responsibility for the engineering issues here? The city allowed this neighborhood to be developed initially, so why would the city be absolved of wrong-doing here? We now know the hazards associated with this specific issue, and can make better development decisions now and in the future.
Also, when they bought the home, did they not know they were in a floodway/floodplane? And shouldn't they have insurance to cover events of this nature? I am not a homeowner, so I don't know the answer there.
What I do know is that other areas are eligible for help from FEMA when their properties flooded. Wouldn't these homes also be eligible?
Napalm-manipulating the river is not the answer. The groundwater and surface are connected, not separate. Removing/relocating structures from the floodplane is one of several possible solutions.

No joke! Civil disobedience is not a big deal. Most people don't want pot to be illegal for anyone, especially for medicinal use. Thank goodness Obama put his foot down on prosecuting sick people who really need this medicine, and that's exactly what it is-medicine.

RUSerious,
Get over yourself. I am not some tyranical freak trying to undermine your religion. I posted a response to what I felt was an article slanted towards christianity; something I don't really care for. You can believe in your personal superstition all you want because it does not affect me, and I don't really care what you think.
And my point is still "there are other activities that are safe for kids in Janesville that don't involve religion". So let it rest. I'm sure getting tired of all the off topic nonsense.

RUSerious-You prove my point in that you attack me directly because I don't believe in any religion, especially yours. Poverty, boredom, and misery have nothing to do with what I said. The Pipe is no place for kids to hang out; it is not safe, even for adults. I don't care about your opinion here, I was only expressing mine. I will listen to you and others who disagree with me, but I do not agree with you, and no amount of blah, blah, blah will change my mind.. And I don't have to agree with any of you. That's the beauty of a public forum and a free thinking mind....

On Would you support a shared-ride taxi service in the Milton and Janesville areas?

I'd be more apt to support a bus than a taxi service. Almost everyone can afford a bus ride, but not everyone can afford a taxi.
