I LOVE my Kindle. It is amazing and now I am so hooked on the game "every word" that I am not reading so much like I used to, maybe that isn't a good thing, but I am having fun and REALLY.....isn't that what it is all about?

My Kitchen Aid is just a white regular one, but I wish I had known how delightful it is, I would have gotten it many years ago. I, too, bought a refurbished one which put it in my price range. It is such a big help to me, I love it.

Mrs. Pat Consigny....she gave me so much encouragement toward my love of home ec studies especially cooking. She encouraged me to go to college and be a home ec teacher, which I would have been really good at, but I didn't listen/wish I would have. To this day, I love to cook and bake, it is so satisfying to make something nice for people to eat and see them enjoy it. I grew up in the restaurant business and have always been in this business somehow, now owning my own place, which is way too challenging these days.

WE are bar owners in northern Wisconsin and the ban has not effected our business. People have quit smoking rather than be bothered to go outside, we have two so far of our regulars. It is a good law when that happens. We LOVE not having to clean filthy ash trays on the bar all the time and the rest of our regulars love the fresh atmosphere. I think we will pick up customers in the restaurant now that there isn't going to be smoke. We have really good ventilation, and still it stunk with that crappy smell. WE have a deck where they can smoke, but usually they go outside in the front and a new atmosphere is created, like mentioned before. I would not vote for a state candidate if they say they want to rescind the smoking ban, which will never happen. He is just saying that to get votes. In this poll alone 63% of the people love the ban.
On Janesville: Any tips on gratuity?

As a person that has always been in the service industry and relied mostly on my tips, this is a place I would like to speak up. Actually my folks owned the Alpine Restaurant and Rose was an acceptional server. I own a small bar and restaurant in northern Wisconsin and am still waitressing.....I find people to be pretty generous, for the most part. Oh, you will get your tightwad occasionally, fortunately they are the acception and not the rule. People know the difference between so-so service and when you really care that they have a nice experience and usually tell you with their tips. This is a very personal place as I also do a lot of the prep cooking and the customers know I had a hand in making a nice meal for them. My parents and I have always enjoyed making nice food for people and seeing them enjoy it. It was fun to see that your first experience was at the Alpine where there was always lots of good pie to choose from. I still have and use some of those recipes, cherished memories of my childhood.
On Have you considered taking part in the "Cash for Clunkers" program?

We just did Cash for Clunkers....trading in a big old Chevy truck for a Ford Focus. At $2.50/gallon we will be saving enough to make over three payments on the new car per year. The government decides the stats on MPG....they came up with 16 for the truck and 35 for the Focus. In addition to the $4500 from the government, we got a $2000 rebate from Ford and free financing for three years. I think that was a pretty good deal. Now we drive two cars that are much more efficient as we also own a (paid for) 2005 Escape.

We, also, are taking advantage of the CASH FOR CLUNKERS program and are trading in 1998 large pick up for a Focus. The difference of MPG between the two is nearly 20 MPG. We are keeping the Escape that we have which gets more than 25 MPG, so that nets out pretty well. That is what this program wanted to accomplish and I am very happy with the deal I got. With the $2000 rebate from Ford plus the rebate from the government we are saving a total of $6500 right off the top line plus we are getting 0% interest for three years through Ford. It is a deal that can't be compared to any other. I feel as long as the government is doing this program, why not take advantage. We are positioning ourselves for retirement and now will have two top of the line Fords (A Limited Escape with only 55K miles on it and brand new SEL Focus). I know Janesville has been a Chevrolet town, but we have had very good luck with Fords. According to the news the CASH FOR CLUNKERS program is accomplishing what it set out to do. People are trading in very low MPG vehicles on very high MPG vehicles. I hope they continue the program, however we got in on the first Billion.

Although I now live in northern Wisconsin, my heart still lives in Janesville (and a lot of my family). Steve was a visitor to my business a few years ago along with his fishing guide and we sat around and talked about everything that is not golf, it wasn't even mentioned. Steve is the most humble, great guy and it is understandable why he is loved on the pro circuit now. We love to watch him on TV now, and cheer for him to win. He represents his home town with dignity.

Loved the two posts by opinion80 and aruba. Palin has been like fingernails on the blackboard to me since the day I first heard her voice on the radio when she was tabbed to be the VP running mate. I just wish she would go away for good. I would not be surprised if there is some controversy in the Alaska government that she wants to avoid dealing with by quitting.

Jason's Deli would be at the top of my list for another choice to eat in Janesville. The one in Raleigh NC has gluten-free bread which is an outstanding treat for those of us that need it. It isn't that hard to get gf food around town.......but gluten-free bread is hard to find. Jason's makes just awesome stacked high sandwches and great soups.
