On Reminder on local burn bans
seriously....is JVILLE the only city that seems to be lacking intelligence here? POSTPONE dang it. WHAT IS THE POINT HERE? No smoking, but HUGE EXPLOSIONS are OK? Ridiculous.
On Smoking, consumer fireworks bans at Traxler Park
I TOTALLY agree. WTH do they think they can do this? ONE wayward ash is all it will take. ONE. Stupid. And the people that will actually GO are stupid also in my opinion, why put yourself in harms way for NO reason. Just wait for crying out loud until it rains. This drout is already costing enough in so many ways.
On DNR: Fire danger "very high" in Rock, Walworth counties
Really? They can NOT ENFORCE a fire ban in Rock and Walworth counties? Don't special circumstances, such as being behind 4" of rain for this time of year, deserve special regulations ... I mean, with each summer continually getting drier each year, modifications are going to have to be made... just like school, the schools don't (rural mostly) have as many snow days as in years past due to less snow, therefore, why don't our kids get to get out a couple days early? nope. And boy if we go over, we have to make them up or oh boy.. big trouble. It's just time for our DNR, to start with, to realize with our global weather changes, laws need to be re-evaluated and new ones implemented on some ares, there are far too many people who are selfish and won't give it a second thought. And on a side note, some of you people are so mean. WHY? Don't get your feathers all ruffled over such goofy things. I mean really? A typo sparks that much hostility? I am sad for you. You claim your not a professional writer, well, I am willing to bet your not a professional proof reader either. Therefore, stop and ask yourself if whatever it is that is going to rob a smile from your face, if it's going to matter a year from now. I promise you, battles can be chosen better. Back to the burn ban though, please don't burn, use fireworks, throw cigarettes out your windows *or smoke at a gas station pump* etc.... pull out the common sense and use it. Please. JUST because some of you may not own your own property and don't really care, a lot of us do, and as far as we are concerned,we work very hard to keep our woods/prairies animal friendly, and a careless strike could erase all the beauty we have implemented with the guidance of the DNR, and that is just pure selfish and careless.
On Memorial fund set up at Orfordville bank for Spc. Benjamin Neal's family, wife
Ben is one of our own. It is with great honor to know that I am from a community of such a small number; the support and love for Ben has shown the closeness we all have here in Orfordville. If your interested, here is the link to support Ben. Thank you so much for showing that the compassion in our country is still alive. https://www.facebook.com/events/13036358...
On Marshfield police kill aggressive-acting bear
OH and BTW, if anyone paid attention who live within Black Bear territory, a standing bear is a WARNING bear... YOU leave it alone - it leaves YOU alone!! Duh.
As far as CUTLER.... he will always have the option of becoming a diva model if this doesn't work out! ;)
orphaned cubs ... who will starve to death - lady + dog live in area where bears are present... hmmmm, caution your activities outdoors perhaps? I don't know what really happened here, but, if this was a female, I know for sure there are cubs w/o a mama, and I also know that this woman should move.
On Janesville bakery outlet to close doors
li713 ~ so laymen terms wrote; thank you. :) You made complete sense. I would also like to add to your explanation. As little as 20 years ago, hostess was kind of like a 'mom and pop' store. It was comfortable and well known to many for a very long time, and pretty original. Many things contribute to the demise of nationally known company, namely, bad management as you stated. Now with the economy the way it is, luxuries are cut, and hostess products are in my mind, a luxury, and when allowed to have a small luxury, there are MANY alternatives at a MUCH cheaper price, such as little debbie as you said, that mimics the hostess brand. When Hostess didn't have competition and very LOYAL customers from the warm fuzzies brought on by growing up with these yummies, it didn't matter if gas was high, or whatever... people were still going to buy. But, now that there are alternatives and that 'generation' that was brought up on hostess, is diminishing along with the brand and the amount of money in their pocketbooks. I am not even sure if they had better management at this point if they can save themselves... this is probably the beginning of the real end. I have NEVER personally went to the grocery store and purchased full priced hostess items, as an adult or a child, being it was never in our budget. BUT, this discount store made it possible for my family to enjoy ho ho's at an affordable price. SO, maybe, being the discount stores are and were a success, except for this one being a victim of the WHOLE Hostess picture, Hostess should reconsider the amount of products offered, cut back on less popular items, and reduce the costs of their products. Costs less... sell more.... make more. There are some items that people can only get that 'feel good' from hostess such as the Suzy q, Twinkies, ho ho's and ding dongs. The others, are pretty general and easily duplicated. I do believe that they should be looking at downsizing, and they could very well save a company that has been around forever from becoming extinct. :(
This is sad. :(
