On Bomb threat remains under investigation

Since when are bomb threats - or actual bombings - a liberal-conservative, Democrat-Republican, domestic-foreign issue? Bombs kill and maim and destroy. Whoever uses - or threatens to use - them is insane and dangerous, regardless of their religion, politics or "home" political team. For every bomb threat or use by one group you can find another by its opposite. Because of that, all bomb threats must be taken seriously. And those who make threats are liable for serious punishment. It's not a joke - and it rarely has anything to do with politics. Keep your political sarcasm for political issues.

And "natural" or "organic" chemicals can be just as dangerous (or harmless) as man-made ones. You ever step in poison ivy? There are houseplants that can kill a child if they eat the leaves. Everything is made of chemicals.

Call1 - Please make a distinction between DDT which is an insecticide (killer) and should NEVER be put onto skin directly and DEET which is an insect repellant (keep-er away-er) and in reasonable amounts is safe to use. I also have no sympathy for people who apply repellants until it runs on their skin. WAY TOO MUCH! and it says so on the label!! A light spray is good enough to keep the skeeters at bay.
BTW, any chemical, including water, is dangerous if you use TOO MUCH of it. I had a friend who died from taking too many aspirin. Chemical companies can tell you their product is safe at the recommended dosage, but they can't keep anyone from misusing or overusing their product. "Lying" about the product has nothing to do with it when fools misuse it.

Molly - Seriously, now. You think the STATE (which applies to any government at any level) "pays for" ANYTHING? No government has any money except for what it takes from those who make it or earn it or have it. It is the Evil Rich like yourself who have money that are holding back this great country from becoming even greater! Seig Heil Fuhrer Obama! Rob from the Evil Rich until they have no more! Then the wealth will be balanced (except for the Overlords themselves who have to watch over us) and America will truly be Great (Poor, but Equal and Great) [Note: sarcasm sincerely intended]

"Pay no attention to race - unless we throw it in your face" - new slogan of the Dem/Lib/Progressive overlords. Has anyone in this country experienced being a slave? So why do we still have to feel guilty about it?

biggirl - although I agree with your argument that lending at [unfairly high] interest rates - in which category I include credit cards - should be prohibited by a cultured and civilized society. By the same argument, work should pay enough to support a family - which is not an argument for minumum wage or guaranteed income, but the generosity of business owners. But when will < that > happen?

biggirl - The passage in the Bible that forbids abortion is "You shall not kill." Semantics aside, an unborn baby is a fetus is a human being - is not to be murdered.

to jetski 30 in re: Why would anyone sign a loan paper with those terms.
I have lived from day to day (not even paycheck to paycheck) before. I do not recommend it for anyone who cannot pay within the week; but when you have to float a check for a car repair so you can go back to work to earn the next paycheck, the payday advance people are cheaper than NSFs from any financial institution. God preserve me from ever having to do it again, but preserve me even more from greedy banks!

DiGriz - So any point of view that doesn't agree with your personal faith (in science? in personal determination? in "I'm right because I'm right'?) is "indoctrination"? What world-view are YOU indoctrinated into? Every one of them requires faith at some level.

On Teacher numbers decline

Statistics not given: How many teachers and staff lost their jobs involuntarily? What percent of the increase in staff reductions was due to more teachers than usual taking early retirement? Where are most of these decreases occurring? How many of those locations did not make use of the provisions of the new law but redid old contracts which bound them to expenses without any relief? And so on. There is NO statistical evidence to indicate whether this number ("2.3 percent this school year") is a trend or an aberration.
