Wearing our second baby was a sanity saver. He wasn't comfortable in a sling until about 4 months of age... but then we was a constant hip accessory for the next two years. The searching process was actually made easier, thanks in full to the wonderful staff at Happy Bambino in Madison who offer a Babywearing 101 class - and encourage you to try before you buy.

Empathy is a core virtue. Kudos to Dana for delicately presenting one scenario where adults needed to maintain grace and composure. Little eyes absorb body language as well as verbal cues, whether at home, a play group, or at a soccer game. Thank you for sharing the anecdote and strengthening the reminder that we need to practice good sportsmanship both on and off of the field.

On Christmas Traditions New and Old

One of the favorite traditions from my childhood occurred in the middle of the night. Santa would arrive once we were all tucked snug in our beds, as we all know. Once he arrived and did his magic, he would jingle some bells. My siblings and I would spring from bed, awaken our soundly sleeping parents, then pillage the presents under our tree. The remainder of the day was spent playing, enjoying good food, celebrating the season, and lots of snuggling (because we were oh so tired).
On Staying Home for the Holidays

Maybe your new tradition is that you stay at the nest you and your husband have built with your children... Holiday travel is hectic and frustrating - especially with little children. There are plenty of other opportunities throughout the year for special get togethers with family. Rates are much better in January :) Regarding all of the kid paraphenalia that traveling seems to require - UPS some things down a week before you leave (ditto for xmas presents, homemade or store bought).

Right on, OPINIONSFORFREE !!! If we could all reduce, or as you so boldly suggested, eliminate excessively wasting non-essential items in the name of convienence our world would be a better place. Thank you for adding to the discussion - your ethical standards and moral compass are evident and thought provoking.

Ironic how the H1N1 virus has been sputtering around since the early winter months; and now the billion dollar effort to vax the masses is sputtering as well.
Its never too late for the high-risk populations. I hope that those individuals receive a preservative-free vaccination before the mass distribution campaign begins (again).

...I have 'demonstrated' a tantrum or two behind closed doors. Not my proudest moments, but they sure were teach-able ones!
Thanks for the Thursday morning laugh!
