On Why you should be optimistic about Janesville

what pizza place closed?

I agree that the entrances to Janesville leave alot to be desired. Beloit, Kenosha, and now Milton also do a better job of truly looking forward.

On Should motorists pay based on miles driven?

With the advent of hybrid and plug-in electrics, the state needs to find a way to make up for the potential lost "revenue" that higher efficiency vehicles could create.

As someone who commutes to Madison and Milwaukee on a regular basis, this would be piling on in addition to the taxes I am paying for gas.

Moreover, I would love to see how they administer this sort of thing. Unless they just whack you with a tax when you attempt to transfer a title based on the mileage difference when you registered the vehicle and when you disposed of it?

Maybe we need to start docking our legislators pay for every ridiculous law they pass without repealing others.

Im just sayin

Buses are like freeways. Busy during peak times when people are going to/from work.

The existing garage was old twenty years ago.

It is time to move the garage closer to the rest of where city services are and free up the land on Parker Drive for additional development.

On Was your post-GM retraining helpful?

Posted on April 30 at 6:33 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Steve, you should learn by now that no good deed goes unpunished. I for one had little sympathy for those put out of work by GM. But I applaud the topic because it sheds light on the fact that some people did move on and are working in careers that may be more satisfying, even if they may pay less.

Everyone suffered in recent economic times as wages have remained flat or declined except for those at the top of the pay scale.

On Is Racine Street ready for roundabouts?

Posted on April 12 at 6:11 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Those who cannot navigate a round-about are the ones who don't understand how to drive. Probably the same people who think the left lane on the freeway is for them to stay in permanently.

Seriously though, round-abouts to nowhere (Menards, Hwy 59) welcome ridicule because the traffic volume does not warrant them just yet.

My opinion was changed with the addition of a round-about near Waukesha at the intersection of 59 and 83. It works great when the volume is higher and people actually pay attention.
