On Is Racine Street ready for roundabouts?

Those who cannot navigate a round-about are the ones who don't understand how to drive. Probably the same people who think the left lane on the freeway is for them to stay in permanently.
Seriously though, round-abouts to nowhere (Menards, Hwy 59) welcome ridicule because the traffic volume does not warrant them just yet.
My opinion was changed with the addition of a round-about near Waukesha at the intersection of 59 and 83. It works great when the volume is higher and people actually pay attention.

I am not sure how this qualifies as news? These gates have been near the Hwy26 ramps for several years now.
I guess it is a slow news day.
On Mattress store opening in Janesville

maybe we are missing a golden opportunity. If we were to combine a mattress store with a check cashing store and an auto parts store we would have all the bases covered.
On Milton School Board committee recommends late-start days

Late start is a joke. It is far easier to manage an early release. Parents can make simpler arrangements at the end of the day than the beginning as a group of kids can leave school together and go to a friends house. If it is at the beginning of the day, that is not easy.
Get a clue Milton. How many years have schools been open? And now this is a brilliant idea?
On Milton schools consider late start

Maybe the teachers could just use the first day of scheduled breaks to do their inservice?
They already get 3 months off a year anyway.
Alternatively, the 1/2 days or early releases are killers. Why not schedule a whole day every 3 months and not inconvenience the parents (I love 3 day weekends!)

On Was your post-GM retraining helpful?

Steve, you should learn by now that no good deed goes unpunished. I for one had little sympathy for those put out of work by GM. But I applaud the topic because it sheds light on the fact that some people did move on and are working in careers that may be more satisfying, even if they may pay less.
Everyone suffered in recent economic times as wages have remained flat or declined except for those at the top of the pay scale.
