On Change!  She froze when the register went blank

Posted on November 29 at 9 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

I see it all the time and you can really throw them off when you also give them change (to even out your change (bills) that you get back).
When my kids were younger and were required to have calculators for school they would get mad at me because I would look over their homework and make them write it out to show me how they came up with the answer. But mom we don't have to, the teacher only wants the answer down. Fine I said, do it on another paper just for me! I want you to know how to do it without the help of the calculator or in some cases they let the calculator do all the work...
Maybe they don't even teach how to give change to them anymore? That would explain why they struggle with it...

On You say toe-MAH-toe, I say take a hike

Being from the south I have noticed several things that are different. I used to have the southern drawl but learned that if I wanted to be included in conversations here I better get faster, ha ha. Now I find myself trying to hurry up relatives when we go down home for a visit.
First thing I learned was that while growing up if we wanted a "soda' or "pop" as we referred to them as either a "coke" or a "drink". I found out quickly here that a drink is an alcoholic beverage and a coke is a coke, uggh (sorry I am a Pepsi fan) LOL
I still say ya'll, yonder, britches, I get cricks in my neck not a kink, a kink is in your back. Hubby says a crick is water and I say no that is a creek and he says no that is in a door and I say no different spelling, creak! :)
.
I also wear a boggin on my head and here it is called a cap and I say no a cap is like one you wear in baseball. I will refer to them as a stocking hat so people don't think I am wearing a sled on my head (apparently he says that is waht a boggin(toboggin) is... and something I say alot is I reckon but luckily my friends here have figured me out and know what I mean when I say my southern words. Ha ha

The water fountain/bubbler? Well we call the one here at work a water cooler but I have heard it referred to as the others but usually as a fountain. Oh and one more thing I use a buggy at the store but most people here call them carts, hee hee.

On The Fan List

How about a married to a die hard Brewer fan who watches every game he can and despite my complaints because I was a "who the heck cares about baseball, isn't there a movie on fan" somehow that darn ole hubby turned me into a Brewer fan??? LOL He would tell me who was playing and then quiz me and eventually I learned the players and then started watching with interest and being pleased that I could name the team; and then I actually got jerseys to wear and well dang it I was hooked. I have nicknames for some of the players but my favorite is Ryan Braun who I affectionately call "Bambi" due to his beautiful eyes!! :-)

rck: Gazettefan does not put down non-believers, he has heated discussions with believers, hee hee. He like you is a non believer and I was commending him for not lumping all believers into one group as some do. While he and I do not see eye to eye on my faith, he at least treats me well and I am sure in real life we could actually be friends.
.

Of course he would probably pick on me about being a panther fan (wink wink)and I would pick on him for being a gazette fan....LOL But the difference being we would do so without malice. I know this can happen because even though I believe in God I have friends who don't and imagine that, we are still friends. I figure there are good and bad people everywhere, and you can't judge one by what the others do. There are alot of hypocrits out there who make it hard for other believers to be taken seriously. There are a whole lot of good people out there who have never set foot in a church and live their lives the way we all should. Treat others the way you would like to be treated. Wish we all lived that way!

The last part of my comment was in general, not directed at you gf... For some reason it showed a break when I wrote it but not when it went live! Hee hee

Gazettefan: Thank you for saying almost and not all believers because it isn't fair to lump everyone into one category. Honestly the same thing can be said about some people who mock believers for their faith. Some of them get really mean and nasty also.

As far as the manners, these days they are few and far between. As mentioned by others not just from children either.

On Stink bugs are coming: Damaging insects making way to Midwest, scientists say

We has these stink bugs around in NC where I grew up. Let me just say that if you are eating blueberries right off the bush and not paying attention and one of them buggers is on a berry and you bite into it, uggghhh very, very nasty tasting and after that you will never eat a blueberry without first looking at it on all sides!! LOL I have never seen any here and am not looking forward to it when they do arrive....

On Do you still print your photos?

Posted on July 5 at 2:24 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Hubby says that I don't need to print them because that is why they are digital. However, I do miss flipping through photo albums and one can't carry their computer with at all times to show others...(well yes they could carry a laptop but you know what I mean....ha ha)I do however print out the special ones and the ones that need to go to my folks who do not do digital pics... I save them to my hard drive and then also burn to a disk and last year after having yet another computer crash finally bought the external hard drive and do back ups occassionally just in case.... That reminds me after I download the recent ones from my camera I need to do another one! :)
