It absolutely, without question, is the PARENTS responsiblity to ensure that their child's education is "on track". It is absolutely, without question, the teachers responsibility to provide caring and adequate attention to the students in his/her class.
My father was a junior/middle high school teacher here in JSD for many years, and I can only imagine the heartache he experienced through the years with the students' declining interest in learning.
Unfortunately, the parents (a good number are working, single parents) have a difficult time keeping up with how his/her kids are doing in school. This is a reality, and whether anyone likes it or not...it's where the problem lies, in my humble opinion.
If a child is not taught at home the importance of quality education, attendance at school will not be a priority, but rather, a distraction and inconvenience.
The NCLB Act is a program that has brought a lot of attention to the public about how our schools are doing, but in effect, it is pushing kids through graduation without the skills needed to get by in life, because no school district wants to be publicly "humiliated" by bad overall scores...hence the 6 week "crash course" before the test...

of course, I would too, RoadKing, but we ALL know that most, if not all, sexual offenders (and especially child sexual offenders) are not punished nearly to the degree of their victims. sad, but true...
But the article also states, "Anderson is not eligible for prison programs that could shorten his sentence." That, in and of itself, is unusual in these days of prison overpopulation. For that, I give KUDOS to the justice system.

and officerfriendly1, not to accuse any law enforcement agent of committing a crime, but I wonder how many officers accept bribes from people who would otherwise be ticketed or arrested for marijuana, to "look the other way"...

and non-users have the choice not to be around marijuana or users of marijuana. I have many many friends and family on BOTH sides of the issue. Guess what: if a person doesn't want to use marijuana or be around it, they don't HAVE to!
Ahhh, the freedom of choice is a wonderful thing...
Legalize marijuana!

oh. of course...I was being optimistic when I read "will spend the next 15 years in prison".
I have read it a few times. Are you sure he wasn't sentenced to 15 in and another 10 supervised?

I agree, it is the STATE who is failing miserably in protecting the citizens of this state...by attempting to release a dangerous, potentially re-offending killer into an UNKNOWN community. That is NOT the way to keep property owners, tax payers and hard-working people safe in Wisconsin. It's an outrageous recommendation from Department of Health and Family Services...the very agency who is RESPONSIBLE for keeping potentially dangerous people OUT of the community. It is without question one of the most disturbing attempts I have seen from a "social agency" whose mission is "committed to protect our children and our society".
Aren't they the same people who tell us not to spank our children? Interesting.

I don't have much of a synonym to use; however, I did discover that a class clown may act as they do because s/he has a temperament that demands a lot of stimulation.
ahhh. That should make gazettefan relax a little bit, huh? LOL
class clown=ADHD going through television withdrawal/DTs. fabulous.
How is it that I get sucked into going so far off topic in these posts?!

On Now that Brett Favre has returned to Green Bay, who needs to end the controversy regarding the ‘unretirement’?
Posted on August 7 at 10:46 a.m. ( Suggest removal )
Brett Favre USED to be a classy guy...now, imho, he is just another greedy guy going through a mid-life crisis. Why wouldn't he stay in retirement and help kids learn the SPORT of football and leave the business side of football in his Hall of Fame past...I'd like to hear that he is going to watch the games on Sunday afternoons like the rest of America and root for the guy he spent so many years grooming (Rodgers)! I've been a Packer fan since Bart Starr PLAYED. He should have retired from playing and NOT coached. Apparently, the Ex-Pro players have the INABILITY to stay out of the limelight. Perhaps it's a character flaw they should work on with a professional...
