On Are you “looking for love in all the wrong places”?

Sigma and Gazettefan, you haven't found the right denomination and/or church yet. I hope it happens for you, though.
Any church I have ever been to has taught me that we ALL (including the pastor) have done wrong. The point to hearing that we are doing things wrong is not to make us "feel" guilty, but to change our behavior. The closer we are to God, the easier it is to love our neighbor (without judgement). Always be kinder to others than you have been treated. You never know what others are going through.

looking for love on gazettextra is not advised either...let's just say, "not much love is shown or to be found here"....
I have met a number of people through online dating sites. None have been any that I would say have been hugely successful (I'm still single), but I have met many whom I still stay in contact with, even though no love connection was made...
Where I was tried to be taken advantage of was when I was looking for a housemate to help share expenses. It got so far as said "housemate" couldn't come look at the place till next weekend, but based on the posted pictures, wanted to send me a check as a deposit. When I received the check, it was from an overseas bank (Nigeria?) and was for way more than one month's rent + security deposit. I was supposed to send the remainder back to her. yeah. that didn't happen. The check was turned over to the local police department (although it was impossible to make any headway there, I just didn't want it to be in my possession or to be accused of any wrongdoing). I'm sure many fall for it, though. sad state of gullible, vulnerable, and taking advantage of people who are just trying to find someway/ANYWAY to make ends meet, I guess. But back to love....sigh. That's a pointless conversation. <smirk>

I have nothing to base this on, but I wouldn't be ALL that surprised if there isn't some hidden cure already discovered, but the pharmaceutical companies know that they wouldn't be able to keep us over the barrel, so to speak...it's been rumored to be there, but nothing has leaked out yet. I would bet the key word in that sentence is "yet". Medicine is HUGE business. You don't have to look too far until you discover a survivor (or victim) of cancer. Sounds crass, but why find a cure when they can stay in everyone's pockets to the degree that they are??? https://www.inspire.com/groups/ovarian-c... Not really on topic, sorry....but I don't think legalized abortion is the reason our country is in its current state, nor do I believe "unwanted" babies (that is: crack addicted, fetal alcohol syndrome affected, etc) would have the opportunity to go to college, earn a doctorate, have "lab time" or be given the encouragement necessary to not be a burden on society, let alone find the cure for cancer or HIV. And as long as a woman has the uterus, woman shall decide what is best for that uterus (and all that enters and exits). Furthermore, I think men who are fighting that women have this right need to sit back and think of all the ways this is "a man's world"...this should not be an issue that YOU get to control for ME. Thanks.

afterall, Chrysler seems to be able "to author a remarkable story of recovery", as stated in the article in the Gazette today ( http://www.gazettextra.com/news/2012/feb... ), they are increasing their production in Belvidere. This is great news! Let's hope that it will be a small portion of what our community needs to bounce back from this economic tragedy. I think it was a portrayal of Chrysler's commitment to America. Why spit in their face over their commercial? I guess I don't get it. I think their advertising agents need some props, as well. Well done, Chrysler. Well done.

I don't think it was political, either. I think hdonlybob is right. It WAS a commercial, but you didn't know what the "product" being sold was...until the very end. That being said, I think the "product" they are trying to sell...and we should buy into: AMERICA. We have too much division at the state level and at the federal level. We MUST come together even if that means we have to compromise and make concessions TOGETHER to work BEST for the ENTIRE country. (Sorry for the "JOHN EYSTER speak" there...but it IS important to stress... :)

here here, WalterReuther! PP does SO much more for women than "do abortions"...btw: women who can't afford insurance because it is too expensive get a chance at life. Isn't that what all the "pro-lifers" want????????????????????????

wait. Do I need more math? If you take 6 mins from class but give them 47 additional minutes of individual time=41 minutes MORE, not less, of individualized attention for the subject they are struggling with...like math and reading, which are subjects that are critical for real-world, daily functioning.

I rarely do this, but this situation nearly demands it: on a blog this past week, Sigma40
(Feb 2, 2012 at 3:38 p.m.) said, "Blaming something else or someone else is exactly what is wrong with this country.... no one knows what personal accountability is. ..Epic failure of a society." Sigma is now blaming Milton High School for his/her inablility to accept complete responsibility for his/her own error. CLASSIC hypocrisy from someone who has a self-esteem issue where one believes one is better than/smarter than/more important than someone else. <heavy sigh>
Sigma, just admit you made an error and move on. "oops" does WONDERS in these situations.
Related to the story: It is a great move. I get frogger's question, but in actuality, from the way I read the article, with this model, a student will now have less "class confusion" and more individualized assistance. I think it's a great change.

Heck, the concept is NOT new. Even Alice fell for a con man in the Brady Bunch, back in 1971. <grin> (Alice's September Song episode)
