On Janesville couple live modestly and wonder why governments don’t

Posted on November 28 at 1:38 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

KUDOS to you! I couldn't agree more. I am a single 30 something and have been paying for my own health insurance outright for nearly a year. I paid off my car early, and do not plan to replace it with a shiny new model any time soon. I live in an apartment because I don't want the expense and upkeep of a house. But I live within my means. I'm not on the verge of bankruptcy and although I have a bit of credit card debt, I could pay it off and close if it I wanted in the next few months. They are saying exactly what many of us have said for months and years. *claps* People like Jim and Lita will always get respect from me.

On What color should I paint my nails? And other insignificant questions

Posted on August 19 at 12:39 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

When should I pick up my dress? Then how do I keep it wrinkle-free, yet not allow Mike to see it?
~Day before, put it in a spare room or at a friend's, wherever you plan on getting dressed.

What color should I paint my nails?
clear coat or french tips. I, personally, don't think you should do artificial nails unless yours are very very stubby, they can be painful and an incredible pain in the butt to get off afterwards.

Should I use spray tan, or will it come off on my dress?
I say natural is best, but my sister went regular tanning for the couple of months leading up to the wedding she was a bridesmaid in last weekend, and she just just a tinge of color, which really helped her not look like an albino.

Where do I seat so-and-so, who won’t know anyone else? Seat them at a table with the most outgoing and friendly friends you have!

Why haven’t the shuttle people called me back?
because they are distracted, lazy, or forgot your request. Call them again. or find someone else to do it.

And my hair…oh, what do I do with it? Up, I agree, especially if it's summerish weather. But be sure your veil isn't going to get pulled on with all the hugs etc. Your hair may not be in the way, but depending on what you do for a veil, that may get pulled every time someone reaches around your back.

Above and beyond everything else, remember this, and remind yourself repeatedly the morning of the wedding:
It's done. All the plans etc are done. All I need to do now is breathe and remember. Anytime anything happens that you think is or ought to be memorable, take a second and take a mental picture and tuck it away in your heart. Keep doing that all day long. I've had multiple friends get married and they get so distracted with the 'next' thing to happen that they literally remember little to nothing about their entire day. Enjoy each and every moment as it comes to you!

Congrats!!

On Family Size: When to Say When?

as a totally single, with no kids, 31 year old, I figure I'm doing quite nicely at my nice round 0. When I consider changing crappy (literally) diapers for the conceivable 3-5 years of having multiple children would require I suddenly think that maybe 'using' my friends children is close enough. =D

I think it is worth noting that this 'bill' was not an individual bill. This was passed INSIDE the State Budget.

Also, some people are seeing an increase in premium, but oftentimes you are getting more COVERAGE than you had. Do not hesitate to contact your agent if you have questions.

On Dangerous intersections

Posted on October 17 at 2:51 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

I use 2 of these intersections VERY frequently. Holiday/Milton ave is incredibly dangeous primarily because of the volume and the un-clear Right of Way rule. The frontage Rd on the Culver's side creates a confusion about who's turn it really is. As a rule, I simply avoid this intersection ENTIRELY when at all possible. I'd rather sit at Holiday and Kennedy for 5 minutes waiting to get in than take my chances on Holiday/Milton ave.

Centereway/Court is a RIDICULOUS intersection. I sent in a complaint card on that green arrow once and was promptly ignored when I expressed my concern in person to the guy who called me about it. There are at least two combinations of red/green lights that the arrow could safely be green and allow you to go, but at those times it is red. When the traffic is coming down Milwaukee straight to court and has a green light, you get a green arrow. Why? Because 'there is a lane there for you' Yeah, a lane of about 9 yards! Because some engineer decided *that* was the rule the city refuses to consider changing the point at which it is green.

Lastly, ROUNDABOUTS ARE RIDICULOUS! If we all knew the rules of the road and if we could all follow them even just 90% of the time, the accidents would go down by half. But, no, our entire society (myself included!) Is incredibly selfish and self-centered. *I* have somewhere to be, *I* get to go even if there is someone nearby who may have the true right of way, *I* am going to go for it anyway and hope for the best!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, DO NOT PUT A ROUNDABOUT ANYWHERE IN THE CITY OF JANESVILLE!!!

On Will new biking law help?

I couldn't agree more!! The very first thing I thought when this first came up awhile back was 'Do we REALLY need to legislate this??? Do our legislators have nothing better to do than draft up legislation like this?? Cause I have a few ideas they should consider working on!'

On Opinion editor unveils new blog

Just wanted to throw my 2 cents at you since I noticed a Letter to the Editor in my mom's print edition yesterday.
-
You had better not take out Bill O'Reilly's column based on the idea that his comments are 'inflammatory.' Which was essentially the poin of the person's letter. There are plenty of inflammatory things being said from all sides about any number of groups and I fall into at least a couple of them. So, keep up the good work, the editorial section, as sporadically as I read it, never seems too far skewed to one side or the other.

Beth, I apologize for those that don't see the humor and "tongue-in-cheek" writing that you so eloquently used. I found it humorous. And I thank you for the truce and white kleenex waving. =D
