On Protesters gather for Walker appearance

Posted on March 29 at 11:01 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Just because you talk louder does not mean you are right. You will see at the next election that the majority in Wisconsin are happy with what Walker is doing. We will stand behind him as he makes right what has been wrong for so long!

On One bend in the road at a time

Posted on March 25 at 4:40 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

I have four children. In April 2009 I woke up paralyzed. My youngest was only 8 months old. I spent months unable to care for myself let alone the four children who depended on me. My husband was suddenly the primary care giver when he never had been before. This is a very hard path to follow, but it's your path. You have to enjoy every little bit that you can and not beat yourself up for what you can't. Accept your limits and enjoy your abilities. Love with the life you've been given. Find things to be thankful for and it's harder to be sad.

On Friends, area businesses step up to help out Janesville family in need

Posted on May 8 at 12:06 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

I am Sarah Worthing - and the point of this story was to give great appreciation to our church family, kind businesses, and amazing people who have reached out to help us. We did not ask for this story to be done. We did not ask for these businesses to help us, they did it after hearing from others about our circumstance, and doing it out of the kindness of their hearts. And the amazing people who have reached out also did so on their own terms, not because we asked them to.
And to the dude from janesville who doesn't believe the military can just "cut" a job - you do not know what you are talking about. There are budget cuts that eliminate positions in the military, I would know, my husbands job was eliminated!

Thank you for all the kind words, thoughts, and prayers. We appreciate your prayers more than words can say. One of our Pastors at Faith Community (Pastor Jerry Dean) has a few favorite sayings, but one of my favorites is a quote from 1Thes 5:18 that says:
"Give thanks in all circumstances for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus"
This was a very sudden illness for me, it is called Transverse Myelitis, I was walking one day and three days later I was completely paralyzed, and before the day was up I was on life support at UW Hospital in Madison. I was very scared, frustrated, and sad. But I did not once ask why me. Instead I found solace in the scripture above. I began finding things to be thankful for and before I knew my whole attitude was changing. I was thankful two days later that I was not on life support anymore. I was thankful that my husband was able to care for our children. I was thankful for our family, our church family, our friends, and complete strangers who offered more help than my husband knew what to do with. I was thankful for so many things, big or small, that I just couldn't be in a bad mood. People around me could not understand how I could be so positive in my situation, and all I could say was that it was not me, it was God.
There is a lot more to our story that there is not time for but you get the idea. Thank you all so much - and Praise God for our answered prayers and the prayers that we know will be answered in the future. I accept God's Will for my life and I will praise Him all my days!

if I mistyped or had any bad grammar, please forgive me as I am on a lot of medication at this time. A great friend of mine (Kimberly I love you like no other friend before) has taken over the incredible job of home schooling for me (even as she home schools her own children) until I am again able. I just wanted to put that out there so there was no question.

On Fourth of July celebration to be at sports complex

Posted on April 18 at 1:06 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

It's amazing how people will find anything to complain about. I wonder how many people complaining about the fireworks being on the east side this year (after clearly stating Traxler was first choice, but not possible) would still complain if there were no show at all because the funding fell through? Is it possible to just be thankful and enjoy the celebration?

On Mayo loses appeal for fourth time

No, Wisconsin does not have the death penalty. How many people should have gotten the death penalty for crimes they were committed of, and later found innocent for??? I think a lot of you would change your tune if it were your family member we were talking about here, and you believed they were innocent. Was this woman convicted solely on the testimony of the other assailant and not by any direct evidence?

Only two people know for sure if she was involved in that crime, but if she wasn't then she has spent the past 24 years paying for a crime she did not commit. 24 years away from her family for a crime she did not commit.
Justmy414 hit it right on the head - a lot of people have spent years locked away for crimes they were later proven NOT to have commited.

On Hard work leads to double graduation

Congratulations on both your graduations. You are an inspiration to a lot of young women out there, and I hope you will continue to tell your story. I know first hand how difficult it is having a child in high school. I am a stranger to you, but I am proud of you. You will do great things in your life with your determination. Your son is lucky to have such a great mom. God bless you.

On Parking tops concerns for Janesville dog owners

Posted on May 21 at 10:47 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

We have children as well as a dog, and we love making it a family outing to the Palmer exercise area. We keep our dog on a leash when we're near any roads, but she is off leash when in the deeper trails. I agree that most dogs are off leash here as a way to explore and get exercise. I am not able to run my dog and this is a great way for her to get more exercise as well as the rest of my family being able to enjoy nature and taking care of our dog. Our dog enjoys meeting new "friends" there. They are free to explore the land and each other. I've never met a dog on the trails that didn't follow an owners command when off leash. If your dog doesn't listen to you they should be leashed for their own safety and the safety of others, but that is just common sense. If they put up more fences that's great, if not we'll continue the way we always have. As long as we have the exercise area at Palmer, I will not complain. If that is taken away from us, I'm not sure what we'll do. Driving all the way across town to the south side is not always an option for us, so our dog would pay the price.
