I wonder why new employers, companies etc dont want to come to Janesville. Is it possible they look at the blogs on the Janesville Gazette to see what kind of people live there. With all the negativity and childish posts on here, I wouldnt open a new business there either. It tells me there is nothing but cry babies, (former)spoiled employees, whiners and lazy people who just want the silver spoon handed to them again. I dont believe the attitudes you people have now are the same attitudes that built Janesville years ago. If they wanted something back then, they worked for it with very little complaint.

Walter, with that logic does that mean if the same 11 yr old girl got ran over by a car on her way to school, she got what she deserved because she was crossing the street? Give me a break! jstwndrn, you also are being unintelligent. No I dont aim to wound. Again to clear things up for you: I dont only hunt to kill. I simply enjoy spending the time in the outdoors and the pot is certainly sweetened if I have a friend, relative or one of my children along to share the outdoor experience. For about the 5th time, harvesting an animal is always an added bonus as my family enjoys eating wild game :) Find something else to complain about since you have such a narrow mind! BYE

As a sportsman myself, isnt it up to me to determine what I hunt, where I hunt and how I hunt as long as its within the law? It is also up to me to define a successful and rewarding hunt no matter how EASY or unfair it may be. I do not hunt on game farms as I said before. To me its not about the kill either. But its hard enough getting youngsters into the sport these days so any advantage we have in that department we should utilize. Many kids would rather sit in front of a video game for hours on end instead of being outdoors but if you can put the thrill of a successful HUNT in them, it just might be enough to get them hooked to the sport. Once thats accomplished, you can then move on to fair chase and more difficult hunts. Being in the outdoors with a friend or two no matter the circumstances is what I enjoy but kids these days say thats BORING. When I was a youngin I didnt have all the modern technology stuff to compete with. Hunting was my form of entertainment and enjoyment but times have changed so lets be a little more open minded about these game farms please. That way you wont be a hypocryte when you take your kid on a hunt at one :)

I wouldn't participate in a game farm hunt either but who are you really upset with? In many cases these hunts are for the younger generation so the odds of them being successful in the HUNT increases. They probably arent even told they are hunting on a game farm so they can still be proud of their hunt. There are also some handicapped people that use game farms for hunting. Can you really blame them? Public lands are overrun with very few opportunities for success especially if you are elderly, handicapped or a youngster. I hunt public land with moderate success but I get out there and earn it. Thanks for the game farmers for providing the opportunity to the people who need places like this to hunt.

Good point bassman. I hope everyone uses their best judgement and has a game plan with some rescue equipment along just in case someone goes through.

Cardtrader: where is your sense of adventure? I think this would be a blast especially when in the company of some buddies, good eats and a beverage or two of choice. With the right settup im sure a card game would be possible too.

I am curious to see the techniques of this sport. From what I understand you cut a 2x2 foot square in the ice and put a shanty of some sort over the hole. Then sit and wait with spear of choice in hand. I can only imagine the level of excitement when after hours and hours of looking into the abiss and you finally see your prey coming into the targeted area which im sure has been chosen carefully. After hours of second guessing yourself as to the chosen SPOT, it looks as if things are gonna come together. I would love the opportunity to watch this happen and maybe someday participate once I learn a few tricks of the trade. Good luck everybody and be safe :) Fellow Angler

It sickens me to hear of all the Walker supporters out there. He has just begun to strong arm the middle class and its just a matter of time before he does it to his supporters. I prey he doesnt even wait for the re vote and just resigns. Oh by the way.... Obama for President AGAIN!!!!

Im just saying if you were deciding where to locate a new company and you did it based on the type of people and comments on the local newspaper, Janesville would rank low. To many people still whining about what they lost instead of being positive about what they could have. GM closed and probably isnt coming back. Time to move on and realize the next opportunity may not be a silver spoon but could be a great opportunity nonetheless.
