On Rock County officials show off $195,000 armored vehicle

Posted on May 11 at 11:02 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

All you people complaining about the purchase of this vehicle are the same ones that would be livid if a situation happened and the law enforcement departments weren`t fully equiped. SHUT UP already! The officers that respond to situations that require a vehicle like this have been way under equiped. Its about time drug money is put to good use. The swat teams and assisting departments should be proud of themselves and thier invaluable service to the communities. Show it off I say as you guys are never rewarded for your services.

On Troubled Evansville bar plans another gun show

Yeah it may be hypocryticle but certain events such as birthday parties etc have been the reason for my attendance. I would never choose this establishment for a night out.

Just speaking from past experiences at this establishment, I dont think this is the best place for a gun show. This bar has a reputation for attracting the less desirable among the public. I have witnessed plenty of drug activity the few times I have been there. As far as the shots fired incident, who knows what really happened but nothing would surprise me. I am an avid gun owner myself and would hate for something negative to happen because of the location. The whole gun ownership thing is in enough trouble. If Geno can in fact host a gun show without incident and comply to all the necessary requirements, kudos to him but is it really worth the risk? Perhaps the Brooklyn Sportsmans Club would be a more suitable location just sayin.

On Wisconsin DNR warns hunters to watch out for elk

Posted on November 9 at 12:24 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

I enter the woods before sun up and usually exit after sun set. I ALWAYS use a light during these times even if it may hinder my success because I fear of being mistaken for a deer. Scary I know, and its unfortunate there are so many hunting that arent qualified. Good luck to all this season and be safe. #1 Treat every firearm as if it were loaded. #2 Be sure of your target and whats beyond. #3 Always keep muzzle pointed in a safe direction.

On DNR board adds 655 acres to Rock County wildlife areas

I forgot to mention the trapping. It is nothing short of phenominal! I would say the river yielded an easy 600$ in fur last year and didnt even hit it that hard. Good luck all

I have spent alot of time hunting and fishing the avon bottoms. The deer numbers are incredible as well as the turkeys. Probably because it is a difficult area to hunt. I almost never see anyone else down there and that would explain the large number of giant bucks I see down there. Keep in mind, its not a walking trail in a state park but if you are willing to put in the effort, there is a good chance you will be rewarded :)

On Larson Acres to host Saturday's dairy breakfast

Posted on June 2 at 7:44 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

I attended the dairy breakfast today and it was my first time being on the Larson Acres farm. I was so impressed. To call it a farm is almost inaccurate. The farm was very clean and the animals appear to healthy. What a well oiled machine. The technology was beyond my belief and somewhat overwhelming. I could not believe how many people were there for this event. I have seen fewer people at the rock county fair. This should be the home of the dairy breakfast every year! Oh and when I was leaving, Tommy Thompson was just arriving and greeted me like I was a friend and we new each other for ever. How cool, he made me feel like I was a celebrity :)

On Wis. fish hatchery work could spell license fee hike

Posted on May 19 at 6:26 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

I too would support an increase in license fees. Five dollars once a year is nothing to ensure our kids and grandkids have the recources and places to go for some successful fishing. Its a feel good thing to do and will also possibly create some new jobs which im sure Walker will try to take credit for.

On Wis. DNR leader says agency mishandled infected deer

Posted on April 26 at 5:26 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

She does not need to be fired. In fact I praise her for acknowledging the errors and letting the people working for her know that she is aware of how the dnr has opperated in the past but that way is no longer good enough. I am looking forward to the dnr actually being concerned about what the publics views are for a change. Its about time. We sportsman spend a gross amout of money to enjoy many various activities in the outdoors and for that to continue, things need to change. Again, hats off to her.
