On Wis. state workers to pay for health care, pension

@cynical~ My dad is a civilian employee for the Dept of Defense. He pays for part of his health insurance and also pays into his pension, it is similair to a 401K plan, but with the government. What is the big deal? Just because congress doesn't pay for theirs doesn't mean the rest of the federal employees don't pay.

According to the Wisconsin State Journal:
It wasn't a sinkhole that closed down U.S. 51 north of Janesville, but it was pretty darned close.
Wisconsin Department of Transportation spokesman Michael Bie said a void was created under the roadway due to heavy rains and recent utility work, and the surface started to undulate, causing the shutdown of the highway.
"The hole that exists now is from a backhoe," Bie said.
The void is expected to be filled, and traffic should be back to normal on Tuesday.
The state traffic operations center said the highway was shut down as of 10:14 a.m. Monday.
Traffic is blocked in both directions, from U.S. 14, near where the void formed, north about seven miles to County M, the state Department of Transportation said.
An alternate route suggested by the State Patrol has motorists southbound on 51 going east on M to Wisconsin 26, then south on 26 to 14 and back west to 51. Northbound motorists would use the same highways.

When I drove to Janesville this morning, that area was being worked on, but has been "sinking" since they dug under the road a few weeks back. They tried to patch it but it didn't work very well. I would assume this is where the problem is. But who knows...

I wonder if this is where the pipeline is coming thru....there has been a bad dip in the road for a while now.
