On Crowd(ed) favorite: New hospital, clinic impress residents

It says a lot about MERCY's lack of quality when a city is this excited for a new hospital. If Mercy was as great as they advertise, there wouldn't even be enough interest in a new hospital to build one. Patients that are satisfied with their care would find themselves ignoring the new hospital and remaining loyal to the health care they already receive. But, since most of us in this city HATE MERCY and everything they do, we are thrilled for a new hospital. We are excited to give this place a chance to restore our faith in healthcare since Mercy has ripped that security away from us!!!

to answer jd's question, mercy east is mostly getting a facelift. it is mostly decorated in 90's styling and color, the nursing stations and rooms aren't adequate for all the new computers, etc. it is definitely needed and overdue. yes, the front is being bumped out and some additional exam rooms are being added, but it is still just a clinic. As far as the north side facility mercy is about to build, I think the ER and helipad that is planned is shady unless there is a more complete facility there. in other words, many things people are brought to an ER for via ambulance and chopper need additional services like radiology, operating rooms, etc. until that site develops to something that supports most scenarios of a true emergency SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE TRANSFERRED TO THE MAIN HOSPITAL i find it to be a decent idea. I'd personally much rather see more specialists hired and stationed there (endocrine, pulm, etc) or a specialized branch of care like a burn unit, peds building, or stroke center.

this is wonderful to see. In my limited number of visits to the dreaded hole known as Quotes, it is a cesspool of wannabe tough guys and low life trash. And I am in agreement about the bouncers there. I know of one instance about 5 years ago where a female broke up a fight that was about to happen and she was thrown out by a bouncer, as in literally thrown out, and the landing broke her finger. I do not understand the attraction ANYONE would have to this place.

this is typical of internet tough guys. use a generic name, sit at your pc, and complain and criticize as if you're some kind of rebel trendsetter. its on this site everyday, and it is pathetic. i guarantee none of you have the balls to say these things to anyone face to face. it is sad to see how happy being critical makes people. if you were at your desk and Ted Sullivan walked by and said "hey, traffic on the interstate by hwy 26 has been slow for 2 hours," you would say "good to know, let's get coffee." but instead, you are a small person who takes shots at people simply doing their job.

you all are idiots. it is an organized event as a fundraiser. they provide DD's to anyone who has had too much. you are an example of a society that takes things too far and makes an example out of everyone and everything. i was there for the 3rd year in a row and it was, as always, well organized. the doors are guarded to prevent anyone leaving w/ alcohol. police typically patrol the lot and the area if anyone who has had too much tries to leave. no one was shooting guns out their windows. no one got in an accident that night. the line: "It's hard not to have a good time with a beer in your hands" is a nice intro to a story...that is all. as always on the gazette, local people with not enough to do bravely sit behind their keyboards and make judgmental and often inaccurate statements about whatever is written by the gazette staff. none of you mentioned the exposure and stimulus events like this give to lesser known breweries. or the impression wonderful food of local restaurants makes. INSTEAD, we are all alcoholics driving unguided missiles through the streets of janesville with one plan: to kill someone else. not everyone in this world has the poor judgment and lack of control that some individuals do.

the uneducated masses who post their supposed horror stories are missing something...all the people who owe money to mercy, or hate their services will flood St. Mary's - AND YOU WILL BE STUCK WAITING THERE TOO! have some perspective and think for a second - if you are waiting for hours just to be seen, do you REALLY think it is a case where the facility is awful or do you think maybe your headache, sore knee, etc maybe isn't THAT big of an emergency. i know someone who works in an ER elsewhere, and their biggest complaint is people who come to the ER for non-emergency needs...especially those who will be turned away due to outstanding bills. ER's will see you and will not turn you away, whereas clinics will.
