On Walker signs work share bill

Posted on May 17 at 4:17 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

The workers will make up for the lost wages with federal UC benefits. So you can have 10 people out of 50 lose their jobs (20%), or you can have those same 50 people all cut back 8 hours each (20%) and receive outside compensation to make up for it. They all keep their jobs, their take home pay is the same, and they are working fewer hours to bring home the same amount of money. All the while, those who pay taxes will pay more, to support those who will now be working less. Sounds like a leftie's dream come true.

Ours is $585 a month and we pay half, so I was just curious - looked like a typo to me.

Logli's produce, meat, seafood, and deli are fantastic. Their employees are great too. A little more expensive, but totally worth it.

On Changes to add academic rigor in high schools would begin in 2014

Please don't generalize. Not ALL righties claim that teaching is easy. I would like to go on record as a "righty" with the utmost respect for teachers. There is no way I could do what they do. I agree from a financial / budgetary aspect with the need to have them contribute more to their health insurance and retirement funds, but that doesn't mean that I'm a "hater" or a "basher" of their profession.

"A 60-foot symbol of Christianity looming over Interstate 90/39, two shopping plazas and a residential neighborhood means people "aren't quite as able to ignore the cross of Jesus Christ," he said." Translation : "We'll shove our beliefs down everyone else's throats and who cares if they like it or not. We've got the money, so we make the decisions."

My JSD experience is limited to Parker High School, so I can't speak for the entire district ... but I have found Parker to be nothing short of exceptional. Staff is supportive, positive, dedicated, and of the highest caliber.

"Silly how people ignore that starting in January of 2014 millions of people will qualify for Medicaid or receive healthcare premium subsidies that will more than offset any increases in premiums." I agree - that sure is silly. Where do you think the money will come from to pay for those millions more on Medicaid and those premium subsidies? Do you think that all these freebies just magically float out of the sky and land conveniently into your hand?

On Janesville gets state grant to move business away from river

The City wants that property and they found grant money to pay for it - so they can use our tax dollars in grant form as opposed to using our tax dollars in property tax form to get what they want. That isn't the fault of Adams Roofing.
