On Former Janesville schools IT manager gets three years probation

"The school district paid $178,000 for software? That should be a crime. How much do they pay for a computer?"

GaryP --from the info in the old original stories, the $178K was NOT for one piece of software, but for some hardware and monthly subscriptions for software at much inflated prices...check out his record on CCAP; the district suit lists those shill companies he set up to launder the cash thru...that's why you CANNOT tell me that he didn't know what he was doing was illegal or he wouldn't have used all these fake companies and 3rd party accomplices in an attempt to cover his tracks!

I think it's SAD that the judge didn't see fit to give him ANY jail-time; he caused the students and staff of ALL Janesville schools months of anguish and for their money they got a broken network..he cost the taxpayers of this city A LOT of their hard-earned money to appease his greed and line his own pockets AND buy a waterfront condo! It was probably next door to the Koss embezzeler's condo! : )

The district DID hire a great replacement and from what I hear; the quality of service for staff and students has markedly improved since Keirns departure! The district IT initiatives are soundly managed and headed in the right direction; towards a better tomorrow and doing more with less.

I wonder just what constitutes "breaking" his probation? I hope that he does that and gets "caught" so he is put behind bars where he truly belongs!

Best of luck to the district in their legal proceedings against him as well. I hope his wages are garnisheed for the rest of his life if that's how long it takes him to pay our schools back!

On Leaping letter carriers on Geneva Lake

"The mailboat runs June 15 to Sept. 15 every year, and passengers can ride along for a 22-hour tour."

A 22 hour tour?? That's a LOOOONG tour!! I wouldn't want to be a mail carrier and have to work 22 hours each day...seems a bit excessive. I would guess it's more like 2.5 hours and the Gazette has made another typo?
