Not against the bars, booze, music or the revelry. It sounds like a lot of fun but it's on the Lord's Day and that is a shame. My family will have to miss it. Hope it moves to Saturday next year.
Can't get around that 4th commandment. Be safe everyone.

The kids have been with us the entire 3 years. We have been a family that long, we just want to bring this to an end and maybe adopt another. I'm so glad things worked out for you janesvillegirl72.
Adopting through Special Needs Foster Care is a rewarding experience but one needs to be prepared for an emotional rollercoaster ride. We just never expected, after everything else, that the paperwork would burn in a fire.

Thank you folks. It's not a big deal, nothing changes, we are all together, we just want to make it official and have a big celebration party.
I just wanted to point out that it seems like a story from Madison but it sure impacted our house. We are still in disbelief.
I did receive an IM from my 13 year old (soon to be adopted) daughter earlier today and she said:
"u know dad I'm not that bummed, it's just going to take a little longer, that's okay. God is teaching us a whole lot of patience. after this nothing will bother us"
She's right of course.

This is too weird.
Yesterday our case worker came to our house and we signed and went through a mountain of paperwork for each of the three kids we've been waiting 3 years to adopt. She forgot the paperwork that we need to bring to the courthouse but said she would send it out today. These papers would direct the court to set the adoption day sometime within the next 90 days but it's usually only 30 days.
Each of the kids have a 10 inch thick packet of info on them - birth certificates, histories, medical records, foster homes, visitation minutes. Together there are two 6 foot high stacks of files regarding this complicated case.
All our paperwork was in that building including the papers we signed, and were to sign, birth certificates, records, histories, everything pertaining to our case.
Our caseworker doesn't even know what to do now. All the paperwork needs to be replaced, birth certificates applied for from the localities where they were born. Needless to say we are looking at another long delay and we were sooooo close.
So that's how this fire has discouraged one local family.

Kenbjammen, thank you for being a clear voice of reason. You called this one. You'll draw a lot of ridicule from the knuckle dragging, mouth breathers who grew up in a culture that disdains decency but I sure appreciate your stand. May your house prosper.

Janesvillemom asked - Couldn't you consider that the loving arms of Jesus is a better place for the soul of an unwanted child than a neglectful or abusive home on earth?
Dear Janesvillemom,
I realize it's off topic to the original post but I could not let your question go unanswered. Your question is really an answer to another question - When is it ok to murder a baby? If murder is defined as the unjust taking of a life then abortion is murder. If you hold the worldview that humans are just a higher form of animal and can be harvested and managed as we would cattle then your question makes sense. But you are attempting to justify murder while invoking the name and the arms of Jesus. You may feel that murder is acceptable because of a POTENTIAL rejection and abuse of the baby but neither Jesus, nor the Scriptures, made any allowance for that. Christians who recognize the Bible as God's Word and the ultimate authority don't make allowance for that. Thankfully our culture, both believers and non agree that we ought not kill a dog because it is being abused or could be abused. We rescue the puppy, we rescue the pregnant mother dog.
Jesus, the second person of the Godhead wrote through David:
13 For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother's womb.
14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you,
when I was being made in secret,
intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them,
the days that were formed for me,
when as yet there was none of them. Psalm 139:13-16
For that reasoning Christians saved babies in the first century who had been exposed by those who believe babies were killable and they continue to do so in this century. Believe what you will but don't invoke the name of the Lord only to justify the unjust taking of life. Invoke Darwin's name or Margaret Sanger or Barrack and Michelle Obama but not the Author of Life. Blessings to you Janesvillemom.
