Freedom and hope are well and good, and we sort of take them for granted.. iF our businesses or government are plundering the Middle East, or anybody else, they definitely should stop! But it seems to me it's their own government who monopolize their resources (like it's popular to say the war in Iraq was for oil, but then where'd it go?) No, they (radical Islam) hate us because we are "infidels". I've heard and read many things which make me not doubt that they (radical Islam) wants very much to see Sharia Law instituted in as many places as possible, and judging by Somalia and things happening in Sudan and North Africa, it seems to me these groups are quite willing to not only imprison and confine those not agreeing with them, but are carrying out a lot of killing of populations.. I don't really see a lot of peaceful options for dealing with these folks. If it were up to me, I wish there was a net we could gather them up in, put them on an Island somewhere under a dome where they could all live happily ever after but would be unable to be at large in any part of society in the world, as they really don't treat others very well.

I'm not for bible verses in the schools or even sports, because we now have so many citizens which are not Christian. However, the founding fathers were not as secular as they are presently portrayed.
- Both the constitution and the bill of rights were written to limit the rights of government not the rights of the people, and the phrase "separation of church and state" is not in either one, but was an offhand comment in a letter Thomas Jefferson wrote to a church, after which time, during his presidency he held christian services on sundays at the capital and was the first one to bring in a choir.. Meetings were begun with a prayer.. they named their children names like Micah and Isaiah, and many other biblical names. The oft repeated phrase actually goes like this "congress shall make no law establishing" (which) "religion"/denomination "aNd shall noT prohibit the FRee EXercise thereof", and the practices of the founding fathers, prayers before opening congress, etc, clearly shows that the exiling of christianity from all public arena was not their vision. I think it was also Thomas Jeffesrson who said of the two books to be most taught in the schools, the bible was one (but I'm not sure if it was Jefferson or someone else)..
- William Rhenquist, highly respected of the Supreme Court, said the phrase "separation of church and state" was a twisting (I think he said perversion) of history, has done much damage to the rights of the people, and should be thrown out and done away with..
- But! we do have a state enforced religion/belief/philosophy, as only one theory is allowed to be taught in the classrooms, and one can even lose their job as teacher if they refer to any of the many disparities and questions/problems in the theory.

The inqusitions were the use of Christianity for political purposes and was politics not religion, just like the disputes of Ireland against England is political in nature, not religious. Christianity is the NeW Testament.. The Old Testament was for dealing w/ things like human sacrifice in primitive time.
- Evolution has never been 'proven' and there is more evidence against it than supports it, and natural law disproves it, such as all matter is falling apart, not improving.. and the same is true of dna/communication.
- Most, if not all new evolutionary thought and theory is built upon previous unproven thought and theory.. There are things in the textbooks which have been disproven but are still taught in the textbooks and classrooms. It's a belief and a faith like any other.. One which Hitler fully embraced. All beliefs and groups have their insane ones, that's a fault of human nature, not just some group(s).
- Scientists saw the Australian Aborigenes as inferior on the evolutionery scale, as the "missing" link, and encouraged their being hunted, so they could be experimented on by evolutionery scientists and displayed in zoos.
- To judge Christianity on the acts of Islamic extremism shows yet another human bigotry, which is the true root of all evil aNd wars.

Aren't they teaching courses on other (world) religions in some schools in California? I'm quite sure if on a poster there was something to do with Wicca or someone meditating, or something Islamic, this would never have happened.. which is as it should be! I agree with the poster (here in discussion:) who said there needs to be a common sense understanding of the difference between the school teaching a religion and a student expressing a part of his ethnic life and heritage..
