On How are you?

When asked how are you, My answer is " Terrific, but I'm getting better". People stop and think what you just said. It works two ways, either it's a terrific day or your baffling them with BS.

On Representative might sue after he's voted off Edgerton fire board

Whitewater has had members of the Fire Dept. on the Police and Fire commission and the city council many times in the past. I don't think there was ever a problem. I think they appreciated the perspective.

On Do you support government spending to expand high-speed Internet access in rural areas?

I live in an area that dial up speed at best was 18.8K. The phone lines are so old that anytime there is a lot of rain or the rodents chew on the wires we lose service even to the phone. Last time I was getting calls for a neighbors number. Then they fixed it. Now my other neighbors phone rings when someone calls me. The service tech says there are too few customers on our end that they won't replace the lines. DSL is not available because of the line conditions and distance from the terminal. I went with WIFI, but its not cheep because the equipment is expensive and the monthly rate is high also. Someone on a low income or fixed income is screwed. I use a cellphone for phone service now because of the poor quality land lines.

EVEBOY_E, doesn't make any difference who hit who. Bottom line is the other person had the right of way with the green light. If you have a red light you have to yield till the intersection is safe to go through. Most municipalities now have intersections that can be controlled by emergency vehicles to stop traffic to allow egress safely.

EVEBOY_E and spark, I will be surprised if the officer does not get a citation or at minimum be reprimanded for his actions. He only had a right to go through a red light if he could do it safely. It wasn't safe if he got in an accident.

As a tech school instructor of Emergency Vehicle Operations, I suggest you look up Wi. Statute 346.03 subsection 5, states, The exemptions granted the operator of an authorized emergency vehicle by this section do not relieve such operator from the duty to drive or ride with due regard under the circumstances for the safety of all persons nor do they protect such operator from the consequences of his or her reckless disregard for the safety of others.

On Plaza would make downtown Whitewater more vibrant

Some other great ideas the city has had. Stop, park and watch traffic go thru the undersized roundabout on the east side. Imagine driving a big truck thru this mess. Another bad area for large vehicles is Starin Rd. between Prairie St. and Prince St.

Fire Department vehicles are large vehicles. Look at the size of the ladder truck. Angle parking adds to the chance of pedestrians walking out between vehicles to get to the park. Most won't take the time to go to a crosswalk. Maybe emergency services should be moved to new building or buildings. Whitewater doesn't have enough land to expand Goose dodo park.
