On The kids in my neighborhood

We always had lots of fun in our Eastside neighborhood. There were always kids to play with, a park to ride our bikes to, and imaginary games to play. We live in a nice neighborhood now, but mostly near retired people. They adore my kids, but I wish there were more young families in the area.

My husband closed out account at Aasociated Bank 2 weeks ago and all he had to do was give his name. She asked "Do you still live on ___ street?" He then walked out with $500. Scary.

I too am sad that this store will be gone. It was such a great place to spend time with your kids. We could always find neat gifts that you can't find at a big box store. I shopped today and felt bad the entire time, the staff looked very tired and sad. A lot of stuff is gone, but they do have stuff to choose from. I wouldn't wait until this weekend though. Lots of love to BB!

We love Dr. Kuehne and hope he can finish the year! The kids adore him and he is so hands on in the school.

An outlet mall would be great! What about a Gymboree or Monkey Joes...something for the kids to do?

No gambling for me either! In fact a couple of years ago I went to Las Vegas for a work conference and took my hubby. There was so much to see, do, and eat! The last day we were just checking out Caesar's Palace and my hubby said, we should probably gamble a bit since we are in Vegas. We each put $1 in a slot machine, lost, and walked away happy. My real vice is candy, I love it! I try to keep it under control though.

As a woman, it makes me sad that I don't feel comfortable in many places at night. I also wouldn't use the trail alone on a week day. I have used it alone on the weekend and feel safe due to the number of people out and about. Also, I am a landlord in the Look West neighborhood. I am not a slumlord but I think there are slumlords on the same block that can cause issues with bringing less than desirable people to the area. I feel safe near my rental in the daytime only. That is mainly because I only know one neighbor who happens to be a home owner.

I was a lifelong Mercy patient until 5 years ago. I was content with Mercy for the most part, loved Dr. Hahn. Dr. Miller delivered my first baby and that was a great experience. However, the postpartum care at Mercy was seriously lacking. There was almost no breastfeeding support and rude, crabby nurses. I switched to Dean due to a change in jobs for my husband and WOW what a difference! People are Dean seem to like their jobs! From the receptionists to the nurses, lab techs, and Drs, everyone has been compentent. There is just a very positive vibe in the Dean facilities. I have in the past 5 years had to deal with Mercy ER. One experience was very good, compentent staff who was reassuring while treating my child. Another time a nurse drew my blood without gloves, the doctor didn't know how to use a machine to check me out and didn't find someone to help, while going to the bathroom I found one was covered in feces, the other in vomit. It was just an overall mess. My mother has fallen from a diagnostic table (MRI or CT, can't remember) because it wasn't latched properly. She also had a Dr. operate on her and when things became outside his scope of knowledge, he kept going. She now has to be fixed in Milwaukee. During one stay on the surgical unit she had to wait an hour to use the bathroom, that is not okay. She also had a nurse give her the wrong medication, luckily she it wasn't a serious overdose. I think that it's awesome that Mercy will have some competition. It will keep Dean on their toes as well. We all deserve caring and competent health care staff.
On What are Janesville’s best attributes?

I feel sorry for the bloggers! Any attempt at a positive post gets turned around, very sad. Anyway, another positive is that Janesville is a very affordable place to live and raise children. We love the iceage trail, what nice thing for our city. I love that there are so many friendly moms and mom's groups availabe for stay at home and working mamas. Check out the local chapters of MOMS Club of Janesville-East or West. There are also MOPS groups that provide support and fellowship to moms of children younger then 6. These communities within the community are awesome!

I also had Mrs. Lynch at Harrison--loved her! I also learned a lot from Mrs.Kiskunas. In middle and high school I had Mr. Brunner. He was wonderful and challenging. I am lucky enough that my children attends Kennedy at this point. The staff and teachers are the best!
