On Council candidate declared bankruptcy, faces foreclosures

Happycamper, if you pay attention the 240k was not about the carriage barn, it was about what she felt was an invasion of her rights as a property owner. The City spent around 500k to fight to tear it down, for a barn worth less than 20k on the tax roll, so this was more a battle of wills and who could be more stubborn. Shame on the former administration for allowing it to escalate to that level.

Anyone that says she can't be on the Council because of foreclosure, needs to kick off Bill Truman! Council President lost his house to foreclosure, so you are saying he CAN handle our money?

Since she has been on the Council, Voskuil has never answered a letter or email I have sent, not even to say "thanks". For this, she will not get my vote.

On Limiting growth not so simple

"The perception is the city goes out and solicits development," Cantrell said. "We don't. We react to development. The council reviews it. But we don't go out as a city and say, ‘We want your property developed.' We don't say, ‘Try on the west side.'"

How is "reacting to development" - PLANNING?? The Council is not made up of planning professionals, so they generally side with the PC's recommendations. If the PC isn't actually planning, then developers are the ones that are controlling the size of the City and locations for growth. This seems a bit backwards....

The City should loan the money to the Hockey Club, and help them find a site that they can afford - not one that the residents have to give them - more hand outs.

Music has the ability to train our brain for higher level of thinking – the kind of thinking for problem solving, comparing and contrasting the similarities and difference between objects, analyzing, reaching conclusion, synthesizing, and evaluating information.

In recent research, it was found that music can help in developing human’s spatial-temporal reasoning skill. Spatial-temporal reasoning is the ability to perceive the visual world accurately and form mental images of objects. It is the mind ability to see in very detailed images and to recognize, compare and find relationships among the patterns and details on an object. The temporal element involves a child’s ability to think ahead.

Art classes foster creativity, teach critical thinking, improve confidence, teach adaptability, and offer therapeutic benefits.

You're either a part of the solution, or part of the problem. Quit trying to tear Mike down, and get involved to make things better! If you think you can do a better job, then run for his position. Otherwise, throw life preservers, not anchors.

Eric Levitt doesn't make the decision on this -the Council does. If you don't call them OR SHOW UP AT THE MEETING ON MONDAY NIGHT - a whole herd of people in opposition - then you can't complain.
